Triston Marez Duets with Ronnie Dunn Ahead of Debut Album

Triston Marez has been a traditional country guy bubbling up in both Texas and Nashville for a good while now. And now he’s about ready to burst into the country music world proper with his debut record, and is getting a boost from a Country Music Hall of Famer to boot.
Fans have been waiting for a proper full-length record from Triston Marez for a some time through single and EP releases, and the 12-track self-titled album will finally arrive on April 16th via the Torrez Music Group. Ahead of the album, Marez will release the single “Where The Neon Lies,” where he is joined by Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn fame. The song will be officially released on Friday (3-12), but can be heard early below.
Already regarded highly by many in the country music scene with multiple songs receiving a million-plus spins on Spotify, Triston Marez has been making waves with songs like “Darlin'” and “Until I Found You.” Due to the pandemic, it’s put a damper on his regularly busy live performance schedule, but it also gave Triston the time to put an extra emphasis on songwriting for the new effort. “That was my goal,” he says. “The songs on this album get to the heart of who I am.”
Who Triston is, is a Houston native who was raised in a blue collar family, and received a guitar for his sixth birthday, immediately envisioning country music dreams for his future. After a heart surgery in middle school forced him to stay home for an extended period, Marez poured himself into the guitar and music, and found his life’s purpose. When he won the talent competition at the prestigious Rodeo Houston in 2014, that helped to set his career in motion, moving to Nashville when he was 18, and doing his time down on Lower Broadway paying dues.

Co-writing nine of the new album’s 12 songs, other songwriters featured include Chris Stapleton in a never-before-heard track, and Gabe Lee on a song called “Texas Swing” that also features Tex-Mex stalwarts the Squeezebox Bandits. The album produced by David Dorn and Alex Torrez also features ample twang and steel guitar—traditional country at its finest, but with a splash of youth and enthusiasm that has earned Triston Marez massive appeal already. Now it’s time to take it to the next level.
Injecting an element of coolness into true country is what Triston Marez is all about, and his debut album is definitely highly anticipated.

This is a nice little song. He’s got some great tunes on those EP’s, think I’ll go back and give em a listen. Very much looking forward to a full album.

to my ear this track (and these vocalists) should be a template for what cont. COUNTRY radio should sound like if its being honest to its roots and unique sonics
is it a throwback sound ?…..sure it is and it also has all of the timeless elements of COUNTRY music which have been all -but- forgotten by contemporary productions : GREAT singers with unique ( identifiable and emotional ) voices and talents ,. COUNTRY instrumentation and a solid narrative .
I’m a fan of both of these guys ….
I’d add Paul Bogart to the mix of artists keeping it real on all fronts but not getting near enough love . its so encouraging to hear artists who ”get it ” and incorporate tried and true effective , timeless genre-defining elements into their music. it ain’t broke…. and yet so many newer acts keep trying to ”fix it ” .

This type of music is out there, in spades, you just have to look a bit to find it. Here in the Oklahoma City market, it is being carried on KNAH-FM (Hank spelled backwards, get it?) on one of their HD radio subchannels called “The Rooster” which is a fantastic format that consists of red-dirt and real-country artists. The station does not have a very strong signal and does not reach out very far, but thank goodness they have an app for your phone so that you can stream it through your vehicle radio and get your real-country fix. Artists like this guy have been featured on these types of station streams all along, you just have to know where to find them.

we need to make a list of radio stations like that which you can access online if you don’t live locally. I’ve seen threads on this on various Reddit country subs now and again and that topic always gets a lot of attention= there are some real gems out there in “good country radio” but I don’t think anyone’s keeping track of where they all are. Thanks for telling us about this one.

Not a problem, no better time to start than right now, hopefully Trigger will pick up on this and set them in some sort of format. The URL for this station is http://www.crankhank.com and the app is called “99.7 Hank FM”. The app has all 4 of their streams.

Thanks, got the app and listening to the Legends stream which is very good. However the Rooster stream refuses to play, at least today. Sucks since I can see the playlist going by which is very good.

Yeah it’s not working for me either right now. This happens on occasion, it will come back up.

Radio Texas Live app with Buddy Logan is pretty good, has live radio and a bunch of news from the Texas/Red dirt scene.

One of my most anticipated albums of the year, along with Travis Tritt.
Now, if Mike and the Moonpies, Vincent Neil Emerson, and Hayes Carll drop albums like they’re supposed to, I’ll be in heaven.

Great news that he is releasing a full length album soon. This single with ronnie dunn leaves a good first impression. Plenty of good music coming on the horizon.

Sounds good. Randall King is another one. These guys are out there keeping it country. Too bad they don’t get any love on southern suburban pop (“country”) radio.

This is the kind of country that radio should be playing…
