Turnpike Troubadours Fight Through Power Issues to Perform Friday
Yes, there was yet even more drama with a Turnpike Troubadours performance, and another show that was almost cancelled. But this time it was in no way the band’s fault. In fact they were the ones that insisted the show go on, and pushed through the issues to offer attendees a full performance, and give fans a happy ending.
The Turnpike Troubadours arrived at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma on Friday evening (2-15) for a show less than two hours north from their base of operations in Tahlequah, only to find that the northeast part the city, including the Buffalo Run Casino, was experiencing intermittent power outages due to an issue at one of the city’s power substations. This resulted in power to the Buffalo Run Casino going out six or seven times during the evening, including during the Turnpike Troubadours set.
The show was opened by Ft. Worth songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson, and power went out in between his set and the Turnpike Troubadours show. However electricity was restored after a delay, yet only to have it go out again right as the Turpike Troubadours were playing their well-known song, “7 & 7.” Even without power, the band kept playing, and the crowd started singing loudly along to make up for the lack of amplification (see video below).
After the multiple outages, Buffalo Run Casino chose to call the concert off. Turnpike Troubadours posted on social media briefly, “Sorry Miami OK! apparently the power grid to the city is out and we’d love to come back out and finish our show, but Buffalo Run Casino has decided to call the show. We hope to be back soon.”
However power was restored once again, and the show went on. To make up for the intermittent outages, Turnpike played well past the traditional curfew for the venue until a full show had been performed. The staff and crew at the Buffalo Run Casino stuck around to facilitate the full show being performed.
Some attendees did leave the concert after getting frustrated at the situation, and Buffalo Run Casino says they did take the names of some attendees who stopped by the box office before leaving, and they may be offered credits. But many people stayed until the end of the show. “The people who stayed thoroughly enjoyed them,” a Buffalo Run Casino employee told Saving Country Music.
Similar accounts were also given by Turnpike fans. “…sticking it out last night at the Buffalo Run Casino. The power went out and you guys could have called it and left but you didn’t,” said one fan, Lisa Orr Laughlin on Facebook Saturday. “If it’s possible I am even a bigger fan now. Great show!!!”
The Turnpike Troubadours are scheduled to play the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Complex in Waco, TX Saturday night (2-16). Hopefully it goes off without a hitch.

A little good Turnpike news. When they are on, they are the best in the genre by a country mile.

That’s highly debatable. And yes, I have seen them.

Cancel the remaining tour dates … Miranda Lambert just announced she got married!
February 16, 2019 @ 4:14 pm
Congrats to Miranda Lambert on her new marriage!

Miranda breaks up with Evan two weeks after his divorce is finalized then married someone else 6 months later. To quote a popular Turnpike song : You dodged a bullet my friend.

Miranda and Ben have been married for an undisclosed amount if time. It was just announced today. The pictures look autumn. So, shorter than 6 mos. If we want to go down that rabbit hole, she left Evan for Ben. Maybe that was Evan’s problem a few weeks ago… he just found out.

His name is Brendan and she’s only known him for a couple of months. Just a bit longer than he’s known his newborn son he has with another girl.
February 16, 2019 @ 11:45 pm
That’s Officer Brendan to you!
February 17, 2019 @ 6:06 am
Sorry sir, don’t shoot!
February 16, 2019 @ 11:51 pm
Here’s something to chew on… he’s a NYC police officer. How often does Miranda get to New York? Wasn’t that famous picture of Miranda and Evan taken in NY?
I think they knew each other longer than two months. It’s possible they have been married for two months. We just don’t know yet.

That was in the summer when Officer Brendan was still hiding his pregnant girlfriend from his fiancé.

This cop is apparently known to be near the set of GMA. The Pistol Annies performed on GMA last November. And it looks like Miranda actually married him in January. So….yeah. He’s been involved with 3 different women in the last 7 months and his baby mama’s friends are trashing him all over Miranda’s wedding post on Instagram.
What a mess. I mean, it sounds like they’re both serial cheaters so maybe they have an arrangement.

Miranda broke up with Evan two weeks after his divorce was finalized *and* the Troubadors didn’t get to play their last three shows.
“If I could treat love like Cheyenne…” Girl, you do.
February 16, 2019 @ 6:14 pm
Congratulations to Miranda and her new husband(NYC COP)! The Turnpike Troubadours know Miranda Lambert is a Great Person. I’d still like to see a Lambert/Felker write. Who knows! I’m happy to hear of these guys being back out on the road bringing their good music to their many fans!!!

Does anyone else see Miranda’s marriage reveal as a slight-of-hand to distract people from The Salad Incident?

And there goes the comments thread…SMH.

I’ve found that It helps to set my expectations low, and occasionally people will over deliver.

Many of the people here have obviously confused Saving Country Music for “The National Enquirer” or “Us Magazine.”
February 18, 2019 @ 7:59 pm
A lot of tabloid subjects are posted and discussed on this site, so I don’t understand why you’re complaining about the commenters.
February 18, 2019 @ 8:12 pm
The infiltration of Stans on both sides of the Miranda Lambert divide, as well as the pretty incredible amount of news on both Miranda Lambert and the Turnpike Troubadours lately has really turbo charged the amount of tabloid-style comments here, and don’t think I don’t recognize this, and find it disturbing myself. That said, I am committed to an open comments section, that as long as folks follow the basic rules, they’re free to post whatever they want.
I think we all need to understand that the first half of 2019 has just been incredibly news-packed, and some subjects are important to cover, regardless of the gossip element they might contain, from the Miranda Lambert stuff, to the Turnpike cancellations, to now Lydia Loveless. These things are cyclical and eventually the news cycle will get boring again. But for now these are important subjects, and would be irresponsible to ignore.
February 16, 2019 @ 8:16 pm
Seriously, Lambert has problems.
February 16, 2019 @ 8:21 pm
Stans, Stans, everywhere a Stan
Ruining the comments thread, they don’t give a damn
She sucks, he sucks, everybody hates a Stan
February 16, 2019 @ 10:28 pm
You may have a point. Although, at this point, using the trite term “Stan” in the context of Lambert or Felcher is more played out and lame than pretty much anything a person can post about these two debacles right now.

Suuuuuuuuuuuure it is….

As a fan that was there….event staff were telling people to leave and to wait at the box office to get a refund…which couldn’t be done since there was no power or come back in the morning for the refund. So we left only to get back to the hotel to find out that the power was on again at the casino. Here’s to hoping to see a refund and/or another show at another point.

Just saw them at the show in Waco. Frustrated with it being up in the air since I was flying in, but they more than delivered. Better than I dared to hope under the circumstances, and one of the best I’ve seen from any group.
