Turnpike Troubadours Tease New Music for Friday (6-26)

Nobody panic. Try to look cool. But the Turnpike Troubadours are probably dropping new music on us sooner than later, and probably this Friday, June 26th according to a post on Facebook that appears to show the band loading into a studio, and warming up for a session.
You see frontman Evan Felker fitting himself out with a set of earphones, “Hammerin'” Hank Early finger rolling on a banjo, Kyle Nix fiddling with his fiddle, Ryan Engleman working the frets of his unplugged Telecaster, and Gabriel Pearson recording with a tambourine. Though the setting is a little ambiguous, the outside shots of the band walking into the studio do look similar to the entrance to Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, and the Snake Mountain studios of Shooter Jennings. Shooter produced the band’s last two records.
The reason anticipation for any new Turnpike Troubadours music is so high is due to the high bar they’ve set for the rest of the country music industry with their catalog, especially their last album, 2025’s The Price of Admission, which won Saving Country Music’s Album of the Year, Song of the Year (“On The Red River,” “Heaven Passing Through”), and earned Evan Felker and the Troubadours Artist of the Year.
All the accolades have yet to earn the Turnpike Troubadours even as much as a Grammy nomination, or attention from the CMA or ACM Awards, who have been featuring more independent artists lately. Flatland Cavalry, 49 Winchester, The Red Clay Strays, and Muscadine Bloodline (who incidentally, are on tour opening for Turnpike(, have all received nominations from these country institutions.
But fans don’t need any validation from awards shows to know how important even a tease for new Turnpike Troubadours music is. They did release an entire album at once last go-round. But it’s more likely we get a single, and maybe an album announcement this time. But who knows? Keep your eyes out on TouchTunes machines for leaks, and perhaps it will all be revealed on Friday behind Rolling Stone‘s annoying paywall again.
But for now, froth with anticipation and be happy this week has a gift waiting for you at the end of it.
The Turnpike Troubadours will be playing the Kettlehouse Amphitheater in Bonner, Montana on Friday before headlining the Jackalope Jamboree in Pendleton, Oregon Saturday night (6-27). Perhaps more will be revealed at these events as well.

Oh I’m not trying to say it won’t be great, and I guess it could still be a lead single, but I was hoping for new music of course

I was hoping they’d let The Price of Admission breathe and live a little longer before rushing in to a new album.

We’ll be at Jackalope. Good lord Lorrie, that’s a stacked lineup.
