Turnpike Troubadours to Play The Mother Church, Ryman Auditorium

The Turnpike Troubadours continue to reveal the itinerary of their 2022 comeback tour, which has included numerous famous spots like Red Rocks in Colorado, and places important to their origin story like Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa. But no venue in country music is as vaunted as the Mother Church of Country Music, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
There is arguably also no other venue that is better to see your favorite artist perform at, from the world-class acoustics, to the 2,300-capacity intimacy of the room, to the ghosts lingering in the wings, and the history the walls have witnessed. And now the Turnpike Troubadours and a handful of lucky fans will get to enjoy this experience July 29th and 30th.
“This is a special one for us,” the band says. “The Ryman is a room we’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”
If you thought tickets were tough to secure to the 9,500 capacity Red Rocks, or even the 6,000 capacity Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, wait until you see the feeding frenzy the will ensue for these passes. And as Saving Country Music reported back in December, the ticket seller AXS—who drew the ire of many Turnpike fans for their handling of the Red Rocks shows—is who now handles ticketing for the Ryman Auditorium as well.
In other words, great measures of patience, and probably a large sum of luck is what will be necessary to secure tickets to this event. Fans trying to secure tickets for Tunpike’s last announced show at the White Oak Music Hall in Houston reported seeing over 17,000 people in the ticket cue trying to get through, even after the venue threw an exclusive event where locals could secure presale tickets.
Don’t be surprised when tickets sell out immediately for these two Ryman shows if an additional show or two is tacked on in the future, similar to what happened at Red Rocks.
Tickets go on sale Friday, February 25th at 10 am CST.

Scored tickets to see them at Red Rocks, now Whiskey Myers announced a Red Rocks show with Shane Smith and Read Southall opening.
This is getting out of hand.

why aren’t these guys doing bigger venues? Not in the business so I don’t understand all the variables but they certainly seem to be able to sell out a much bigger place. Maybe due to the fact they were out of pocket and not sure what the future was until too late?

They never really did sell out venues outside of the Red Dirt Region and Kansas and Missouri. 3x I saw them before their hiatus (Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland) weren’t sellouts.
And the concert market is right now is over saturated. Everyone is touring post COVID. My calendar has never been this booked. It’s smart they are doing venues they know they can sell out.

Before promoters will put you in bigger rooms, you first have to prove you can sell out smaller venues. Nobody expected Turnpike to be this big coming out of their hiatus. Some may still not believe it until they see it.

I disagree, respectfully. Turnpike only got bigger while on hiatus. And I think that was pretty visible if paying attention. This genre of music has also grown, considerably. Turnpike is on such a roll, currently, they should be booking 10,000 seat venues across the country – and they would fill them.

I don’t know that we disagree. I think they should be playing larger venues as well. Clearly demand is outpacing supply, and the people getting squeezed are the fans by scalpers.
I do think these Ryman shows are a bit of a different case though. It’s a rite of passage to headline the Ryman.

Hope for a string of european shows in the future even if we’re still facing covid restrictions over here.

Just hope they take the new schedule methodically and with measure. I know the time off certainly helped Evan get his head on straight and we all want tp keep it that way.
Truly a great band.

I’m so excited to be able to see turnpike at the Ryman. Back when I first got into country music with(sorry) Kick the Dust Up by Luke Bryan I never would’ve dreamed I would be listening to great bands like Turnpike, flatland, or even corb Lund. It’s a shame that we(gen z) just shun country by name and artists like Luke Bryan, but there’s great stuff here.

Anyone know what the Ryman presale code is?
