Tyler Childers Announces New Tour Dates For “Country Squire Run”
Tyler Childers has just singed to Sony’s RCA Records in a partnership with his own imprint called Hickman Holler, and will be releasing his latest record called Country Squire on August 2nd. Along with the new album, Tyler Childers has announced a bunch of new tour dates dubbed the “Country Squier Run” that will extend his current 2019 tour from October into December.
Joining Tyler Childers for select dates of the Country Squire Run will be Courtney Marie Andrews, and Liz Cooper and the Stampede. These new dates come on the heels of a recent announcement that Tyler Childers will be partnering up with Texas music songwriting legend Robert Earl Keen for a select run in July that will include a free show in Kerrville, TX, as well as a sold out date at the famous Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado on September 30th.
Other important appearances Tyler Childers has planned include a performance at Marty Stuart’s famous Late Night Jam at the Ryman during CMA Fest, appearances at the Nelsonville Music Festival and Pickathon in Portland, a six date junket in Europe in August, and plenty of local headliner dates. The new dates from October to December will likely sell out, and don’t be surprised if new dates are added as October nears. Additional dates also might be added to current markets as initial shows sell out.

You must not get out much, if you are scared of venturing into the area (oh, “ghetto” i mean) of downtown Oakland where the Fox Theater is.

That neighborhood is a far cry from ghetto and likely one one of the best venues in Bay Area. Perhaps, you haven’t been to that area in some time..

I have been to plenty of Raiders and As games. Screw Oakland. not worth going into a shitty city.

They stay your ass in Lafayette or Walnut Creek or whatever haughty place you’re living in and let someone with good taste use the ticket you would have wasted.

Lol, haven’t been to the Bay area in a minute, so wtf do I know, but these sorts of comments are ridiculous.
Just Google-mapped the venue in “street view” and that neighborhood does not look like the “ghetto” to me by a long shot, and it’s just a couple blocks right off a major highway. Missing a Tyler show based on some unfounded fear like that is weak. Just drive in, park, enjoy the show, and drive back out. Simple.

Is this where he begins his run at the Grammy’s? I know it’s a bit premature, since we haven’t heard the album yet, but I can’t help but think this is the beginning of a very interesting run for Tyler.

We’ll see…. I’m thinking the 2020 Grammy Country album nominations thus far will be :
Randy Houser – Mongolia
George Strait – Honkytonk Time Machine
Maren Morris – Girl (have to nominate 1 pop/female)
Cody Johnson – Ain’t Nothing to It
Reba – Stronger than the Truth
Upcoming albums with a shot at a nom..
Thomas Rhett – Center Point Road (they love him)
Jon Pardi – Heartache Medication (title pending, September release)
Blake Shelton’s next album (God’s Country is a runaway hit)
Perhaps this Country Squire from Tyler too

No Irish dates, but I might bop down to Brighton – there are certainly worse places to be in August!

Been an exciting couple days of announcements! Just saw Joseph Huber and Spirit Family Reunion each announce new records this year as well! Expecting great things from those along with the new Tyler Childers material!
OX TONGUE- Australia’s only COWPUNK band
May 17, 2019 @ 3:08 pm
I saw him in Australia a few months ago (while on the John Prine tour) and he said he was going to try to get back here soon with the full band later in the year or early next year… he was amazing and I’m stoked for that to happen. Also Alejandro Escovedo said he was coming back with a full band too. Can’t bloody wait!

I hope that’s not the list that makes it. That list is so bland, Arnold. I think with the Grammy’s Tyler had an advantage, because they tend to favor more challenging albums and artists.
Also, this is a good time to bring this up: if Tyler isn’t invited to SNL during this album cycle, something is rotten in Rockefeller. Margo can’t sell a record, but she got in because Jack white is her sugar daddy. Sturgill got invited thru word of mouth and connections, and I think he deserved the invite. But, Tyler deserves it way more than either of those two. He’s consistently selling out crowds, and he’s maintained the sound we love from his albums in his live act. He has over 400,000 more monthly listeners than Sturgill on Spotify. ‘Nuff said.
Let the Hilljack in, y’all!

Wait, you think Tyler Childers is going to be a musical guest on SNL… The only country artists that make it on there are the Blake Sheltons, the Carrie Underwoods, or the Thomas Rhetts of country music…
I would think Kane Brown to be the next country artist to get a phone call from Lorne Michaels
Trigger
May 17, 2019 @ 7:37 pm
…and Margo Price, and Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton, and Kacey Musgraves. I’d say Childers has just as much of a chance getting on SNL as any mainstream star at this point, especially since his publicist is Asha Goodman, who was also the publicist behind Sturgill and Stapleton when they got on.
Hey Arnold
May 17, 2019 @ 8:36 pm
Maybe… but I feel that Stapleton and Musgraves are on another level in the mainstream world.
Tyler is probably at the level of fame that Ashley McBride and Cody Johnson are at. SNL usually has one country artist per season… and they usually do 20 episodes a year.
I’d like to be proven wrong of course.
Oh, and Trig… Jon Pardi is performing at the American Idol finale this Sunday. Pretty cool gig and a great way to showcase real fiddle and Steele guitar!! I know American idol isn’t the ratings powerhouse that it used to be… but it’s still in the Top 5 in weekly ratings… probably around 8 million or so viewers. Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown, and Dan Shay are also performing

Simpson and Musgraves are good, that’s obvious, but they’re both crossover darlings because they buck the perception of country being cheesy music for conservative rednecks.
Major points are also given to them by the mainstream for their
vocal lefty politics. I can safely say Simpson’s performance on SNL was one of the best of all time. Stapleton on SNL was more of a fluke to me. He’s got obvious talent and crossover appeal, but isn’t political one way or another. That’s probably to his credit.
Now, if Childers’ new album is great, gets a lot of mainstream coverage (especially on NPR) PLUS he gets baited into saying some stock lefty stuff, he’s going to crossover in a big way and he’ll definitely have a shot at SNL. Plus he’s got Simpson in his corner to put in the good word.

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers would fit perfectly as a musical guest on the show that I usually only watch for Weekend Update these days. I know I’m dreaming…… but to me she’s a modern day Kurt Cobain….lol

In case no one noticed, if you’re not in Kerrville for the 4th of July, you’re gonna be missing a hell of a show. Bruce Robison, Tyler Childers and Robert Earl Keen? Check (the Keen/Childers bromance that has been developing since last year’s Americana Awards could potentially be a huge development for country music) Largest fireworks display in the Hill Country? Check. Free admission? Check.
Um, hell yes I’m there!

I learned about Tyler on this website. I am extremely grateful. I think he’s one of the all-timers. I prefer him by a mile over Sturgill (personal taste). There’s something about Stapleton that I don’t trust. His songs are so unbelievably amazing and his voice is so compelling. How can it be real, lol? Anyway, thanks for all of the great tips I get here and lucky for us to be living in a time with such incredible music.
