Under The Big Sky Fest Announces Loaded 2025 Lineup
It’s as big as Montana. It’s independently-owned. And it was the first festival that had the cajones to put on a massive festival with independent artists at the top of a poster. It’s Under The Big Sky Festival in Whitefish, Montana, and it’s returning July 18th, 19th, and 20th of 2025 for another big time in big sky country.
Tyler Childers, The Red Clay Strays, and Mumford & Sons are the big names at the top of the poster, and ain’t it sweet to see Red Clay secure top headliner status. But the names in the smaller font are nothing to sniff at either. Few bands are as good live as Shane Smith and the Saints. Whitey Morgan and the 78’s are the old school Outlaw country kings. And Wynonna Judd is nothing short of a country music goddess.
There are plenty of up-and-coming names as well including Wyatt Flores, Dylan Gossett, and Noeline Hoffman. You never can go wrong with Brent Cobb, Canada’s Corb Lund, or Kelsey Waldon. And as always, Under The Big Sky has a bunch of local Montana names with national impact, including Sterling Drake and Hannah King. And don’t forget there is also a full-fledged rodeo on the weekend.
Under The Big Sky is way up there on the map, just shy of the Canadian border, and just west of Glacier National Park. It’s not cheap or easy to get to, but it’s a once in a lifetime adventure that’s worth the trip. If you want a of what you can expect, you can check out Saving Country Music’s recap from 2024.

When you look at a map, it appears to be a real pita to get there. But then I discovered they have an airport (FCA) right in town.
If you go, don’t miss Hogslop String Band.

Yes, there is an International airport there with a decent amount of flights since it services Glacier National Park. It’s no Atlanta Airport, but there are harder places to get to.

Also, an Amtrak station downtown with direct service to Chicago, Portland and Seattle. Not a quick ride but one of the more beautiful train journeys in the world…

Seeing the RCS up there in the big font is awesome. I’ve always thought they and Wyatt were kind of on the same trajectory but man have the Strays blown up. Seeing Mumford at the top of the flyer makes me think of the old Sesame Street skit – one of these things is not like the others….
