Video Surfaces of Woman Slapped By Tim McGraw Telling Her Side
On July 13th, Tim McGraw slapped a woman named Jesslyn Taylor in the crowd at the at Aaron’s Ampitheatre in Atlanta while numerous cameras captured the incident on tape. Since then a controversy has brewed over whether McGraw was justified in slapping the spectator since the video shows the woman reaching out and touching McGraw’s jeans and ripping them as he pulled away, or whether it is ever justified for a man to hit a woman, especially in such as high profile situation and in such an aggressive manner.
On July 21st, McGraw responded to the incident, but did not offer an apology.
Sometimes things can lose context and perspective. I reacted in an instinctive, defensive way from my perspective of what was going on. I think it was an unfortunate situation, I think all the way around. But it happened, it happened in a split second, it was pure instinctive reaction, I think you just got to move on. It is one of those things that happen, nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it. You are in that position, you are out there, you are vulnerable, things happen and sometimes you react. There’s nothing to be said about it.
Jesslyn Taylor, who was detained by security after the incident, later hired a lawyer and said she was at least due an apology, but no apology ever came. Then in early August it was reported that the matter had been settled by both parties. “It’s been mutually resolved the old-fashioned way … with a simple conversation,” explained Jesslyn Taylor’s attorney Eric Hertz.
However a new report from Radar Online posted Tuesday shows Jesslyn Taylor recorded on camera for the first time speaking out about the incident, and saying that McGraw still owes her an apology. The problem is, though the video itself might be “new” to the public, the context of the video is old. The video was taken before Tim McGraw and Jesslyn Taylor worked the issue out privately, despite Radar Online burying this critical point in the body of the article. Subsequently, some news agencies and websites have picked up on the “new” video as the latest development in the saga, as opposed to a piece of old information that does help shed light on Jesslyn’s side of the story, but doesn’t change the fact that the matter appears to be settled. Why the video is just now being made public is not explained.
Flanked by lawyers, Jesslyn Taylor explains, “I was at the concert. Tim came out on the catwalk, walking across the bar where everybody was. Everybody was excited, hands up in the air, filming. I was filming, and just excited. He bent down and sang to me, and I reached up, hit him on the leg. Two of my fingers got stuck in his jeans. When he turned to walk away, it ripped a hole in his jeans. He slapped my hand away, then he turned back, slapped me in the head very hard. I fell backward. Then he actually reared back to hit me again, but a fan on the opposite side of the stage grabbed his arm and stopped him. From there I was drug out and put in a holding area.”
When asked by the reported if she had been drinking, Jesslyn replied, “I had a few drinks.” When asked if she was reaching out to grope McGraw, she responded, “Absolutely not.”
“You got to keep in mind that she was in an environment that was encouraging fans to come up and touch him,” Jesslyn’s lawyer Eric Hertz said. “You know, interact with him…The first thing that needs to happen is there needs to be an apology, and not blame her.”

I don’t know why she is acting innocent, she definitely grabbed him to tear off his jeans, he definitely hit her in defense not seeing what happened, and she isn’t owed shit.

I’ve had my pants, shirt, guitar strap grabbed before (many times over the last 30 years) and I’ll tell you what – when you think you’re going to be pulled off a stage – there are no women or men – ONLY someone who is trying to pull you off the stage, whether intentionally or by accident. My kicking foot doesn’t discriminate in that situation. I don’t care who you are, you’re not pulling me off that stage. I get that it might not be intentional – but the grab is intentional, and you’re in a vulnerable position.
Two things happen if you get pulled off a stage.
1. You could get hurt. Not a big deal. I’ve been hurt many times, many ways and will many more, I’m sure.
2. It REALLY fucks up your show. That I’m not okay with. Even if you don’t get hurt, you get really tangled up and it can take a full minute or more to get back to playing. If you DO get hurt badly, it can mean show over.
With that said, it’s hard to tell if he slapped her after the fact – knowing he was clear. If so, that MIGHT be uncool – but man, you’re adrenaline goes NUTS in those situations and you don’t see some chick or some dude. You can’t see shit in an audience – you’re too blinded by lights.
I’m a huge anti-hitting a woman guy. But personally, I didn’t see a guy hitting a woman. I saw a guy hitting a dangerous person. I love interacting with the audience that way, but people can cross the line. When you choose to cross that line, you take your chances.

Three things happen if you fall off stage.
3. You land on and injure a member of the audience.
September 25, 2014 @ 11:03 am
Yes! Personally, the only audience member I’ve ever seen get hurt was the one doing the pulling, but it definitely could happen.

BS.. he’s a pro. If he doesn’t want to be groped stay off the catwalk.
September 26, 2014 @ 9:38 am
Best comment on here from someone with experience.
You are on point with “there are not women or men” when a situation like this arises. There is only “I’m safe on stage” or “Someone is trying to pull me into danger”.
This isn’t abuse people! This is a drunk fan, that crossed the line. Where is the line….if you are unsure, then don’t go near the stage grabbing at this that aren’t a persons hands.
And her comment…”he sang to me” Fuck you lady. He sang to air. You just happened to be there. You do realize he walks the same walk every night, kneels down and screams out the song in the same spot…every night. He didn’t sing to you, so don’t think YOU can grab him.

she needs to be slapped for liking Tim McGraw’s music. Tim McGraw shouldn’t be the one doing it though…or to anyone for that matter. Mr. McGraw needs to take a break and let the missus do the breadwinning for a while.
September 24, 2014 @ 11:28 pm
Um, in this case I think the missus is over the hill. Tim is the reason her train hasn’t left the station completely.
September 25, 2014 @ 6:02 am
Over the hill? Really? I’m not a fan of either Tim McGraw or Faith Hill, but neither of them are over the hill. They are the same age; both born in 1967 and they aren’t even 50.
September 25, 2014 @ 10:30 am
Well, isn’t “over the hill” officially 40, the median age of the average life span?
September 25, 2014 @ 1:32 pm
I think 40 is a bit young for over the hill today.
September 25, 2014 @ 1:40 pm
It’s not over the hill. Let’s wait till you are 40 and see how you fee about it thenl. Like fine bourbon or wine, i improve with age. People are often pleasantly surprised at my age
September 25, 2014 @ 3:01 pm
I’m not passing judgement on anyone’s age. I am simply pointing out that the origination point of the phrase “Over The Hill” has to do with people turning 40. Go down the card isle at the grocery store and look. There’s an entire section devoted to it. I personally go out of my way to NOT judge performers by their age, but by their merit.
September 25, 2014 @ 2:01 pm
Given the context of the statement, I would agree that anything over 35 would be considered over the hill for a female country singer in this day and age. Not that I think it’s right, it’s just what it is.
September 25, 2014 @ 5:46 pm
Trigger, I’m 51, consider myself “over the hill”, lol, and have not one iota of a problem with that fact. People make themselves ridiculous these days trying to remain perpetually young, instead of leaving that to the young. I feel like I had my day, it was fun, and so is this day, in a different way.
September 24, 2014 @ 7:56 pm
It looks to me like he thought she was pulling him off balance and it surpised the hell out of him.
He story about accidentally hooking her fingers in the girly holey blue jeans he was wearing is nonsense,’
She grabbed the hole in his jeans and pulled hard.
This chick is a skank.
I don’t like men hitting women at all, but the more I review the video the more she makes a compelling case for a bitch-slapping.
September 24, 2014 @ 8:11 pm
Probably someone on the lawyer’s team or the guy who filmed it sold it to make a buck. The interview was before the video of her slapping his ass and following him surfaced. I’m sure that put a splash of cold water on her plans.
September 24, 2014 @ 8:34 pm
I’m with Tim on this one. He doesn’t owe her a damn thing.
September 25, 2014 @ 1:44 am
Not Tim Mcgraw related but some things are more important than saving country music. For instance. I spent all Monday in deep prayer. Been doing that all the time for a few months now. Solitude & prayer.
Also I haven’t spoken once to my brother at all in 4 years. But I called him Tuesday & talked to his wife for a few hrs. Then my brother 4 a few hrs. U know ?, fixing things & working things out. He was in shock, I could tell. Have a niece too.
Been 4 yrs but I think it was sincere today & felt good about talk, great day actually. In short, I even asked him if he thought my dad loved me. He said Yes! Very good day I think.
Just saying, to hold the horses. LOL. Not everything is as seems, & music isn’t the most important thing. I started with “MY” family 1st.
September 25, 2014 @ 5:32 am
This whole gotta-touch-Tim-McGraw thing has me mystified. Does his touch heal the sick and enable the lame to walk?
September 25, 2014 @ 7:42 am
I just see this as her trying to some money out of this.
September 25, 2014 @ 9:55 am
I agree 100% Evan. Just a way to get attention and money. But McGraw should not sell himself so sosexually and close to his fans, especially if they have been drinking. Elvis never went out into the crowd.
September 26, 2014 @ 6:35 am
Why do so many make comparisons to Elvis in the 50s-70s non-cell phone capturing, social media immersion days? I’ve seen other comments about Elvis related to this incident and it surprises me.
September 25, 2014 @ 11:07 am
At an Aerosmith concert I was at in 1988, some dude jumped up and grabbed Joe Perry’s guitar strap. It jerked him to the ground and looked like he might have even smacked his face on the monitor. Steven Tyler ran over and kicked that dude in the head so hard his ancestors probably felt it. Never heard a word about it. No lawyers, or press conferences. Just one asshole getting what he had coming to him for being a dick.
September 25, 2014 @ 11:43 am
I don’t buy that he was hauling off to smack her again, it looked more like he was raising his hand in a “WTF do you think you’re doing” sort of move. And I agree, it appears to me an automatic reaction to being grabbed. And the hole she grabbed was huge, there’s no way she got her fingers stuck.
But, not being a big fan of Timmy, I couldn’t help but laugh when he gets all pouty-looking after he checks out the “damage”.
September 25, 2014 @ 1:53 pm
So lemme get this straight..If a pop country music dude gets his little designer jeans pulled on and swings at a woman, that’s justified.
But if a football player dude gets spit on in an elevator by a woman and takes a swing, that’s bad.
Just trying to learn the rules here!
September 26, 2014 @ 6:41 am
Football player punched fiancee and knocker her out cold. Pop music dude swatted someone who sexually assaulted him and then physically assaulted him. Too many people trying to compare an altercation to an attack and it’s insulting to an abuse victim. Anyone who has been abused sees the difference. Anyone with keen eyes watching the videos sees the difference.
September 25, 2014 @ 5:43 pm
Imagine if the sexes were reversed in this scenario, and it had been a female performer and the fan was a male. If the male fan groped the female performer and she slapped him, everyone would be cheering her on. She sounds like she’s trying to downplay the fact that she tried to grope the guy.
September 26, 2014 @ 6:44 am
I agree. What gets me is the lawyer saying the environment is conducive to touching. Even patrons of strip clubs know that no environment is considered conducive to touching.
September 26, 2014 @ 9:00 am
Great point Liza. If ever an environment could be said to be “conducive” to touching, it would be in a strip club, but even there the patrons are supposed to know better, and there are rules in case they don’t.
It’s as if some have forgotten that men are people too, with the same right to human dignity and control of their own bodies, as women.
I really think that entertainment media is a least a little to blame for this, wherein men are the idiot butts of the joke, the ones who don’t “get it”, who are just clueless foils for the ever-wise, all-knowing women who always have to set the men straight.
Kind of ironic, when you consider who is historically responsible for the majority of innovations, discoveries, and inventions which have benefitted all mankind, including the female part.
September 26, 2014 @ 5:51 am
he just went a lil gg allin in his head
