2019 Roostertail Festival Pulls Together Impressive Lineup
The Madison Regatta in Madison, Indiana has been going on for nearly 70 years now, and the event annually hosts one of the largest hydroplane races in the United States. Along with the action on the water, the regatta festivities taking place around the July 4th holiday also feature numerous other events, which in 2019 includes the Roostertail Music Festival.
Featuring three days of live performances, local organizers didn’t take their chances booking expensive mainstream names with dodgy talent and tired acts. Instead the festival is doing what many regional festivals all around the country are doing, which is drawing their entertainment from the riches of the Texas and Red Dirt music scene, as well as showcasing some of the local region’s best independent musicians and up-and-comers.
The 2019 Roostertail Festival will see Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters and The High Divers headline Thursday night, Jamie Lin Wilson and Mike and the Moonpies take the stage Friday, and an impressive run of Justin Wells, American Aquarium, Brent Cobb, and Whiskey Myers cap off the event on Saturday. Both Jamie Lin Wilson and Justin Wells have won Saving Country Music’s Song of the Year distinction in the past, Mike and the Moonpies were named Saving Country Music’s Top Live Act in 2018, and both Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters and Americana Aquarium have been nominated for Saving Country Music’s Album of the Year previously. This puts a lot of country music talent in one place.
Whether you’re a nearby resident of the small town on the Ohio River right on the Kentucky border, or are looking for a cool, out-of-town experience to partake in your independent country/Red Dirt fix, the Madison Regatta and Roostertail Festival might be right for you. Tickets are only $25, or $40 for entrance to the regatta too.
