Alan Jackson Sets Final Show … With Some Interesting Openers
Country music legend Alan Jackson played his final road show on May 17th, 2025 to a sold out crowd at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Though it wasn’t announced beforehand as his final road show, Jackson said from the stage,
“This is my last road show out here, but we’re planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime [2026]. I just felt like I had to end it all where it all started, and that’s in Nashville, Tennessee. But this is the last one out on the road for me. It’s been a long, sweet ride. It started 40 years ago this September. My wife and I drove to Nashville with an ol’ UHaul trailer, and chased this dream. It’s been a crazy ride. I lived the American dream for sure.”
Now the details of the final Alan Jackson show have been released. Set for Saturday, June 27th at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, “Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale” will happen with a big list of supporting talent. Scheduled to appear with Jackson are Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Jon Pardi, Lee Ann Womack, and more to be announced.
Though some of these names like Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, and Lee Ann Womack feel entirely appropriate, it’s a little curious to see names like Luke Bryan and Keith Urban involved with this, and not to see names like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, and others that you think of when you think Alan Jackson, let alone up-and-coming names like Zach Top and Jake Worthington who would fit on a final Alan Jackson concert so much better than others.
Organizers are expecting a crowd of 50,000, and Alan Jackson could probably sell that many tickets to this himself. Don’t be surprised if this sells out immediately, and a second date is added. But it almost feels like organizers felt like they needed some bigger names to make the math work. More names are to be announced, so it will be interesting to see who they are.
Also, whenever you see the “final tour” or the “final show,” you always have to approach these things with a little bit of caution. Many times in the past, performers have announced their finale only to return to touring later.
However, in September of 2021, Alan Jackson revealed that he’s been suffering from a degenerative nerve condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, nicknamed (somewhat ironically) CMT. The good news is that the disease is not life threatening, nor does it affect longevity. But CMT does significantly affect coordination, which has restricted Alan Jackson’s ability to perform.
Registration for pre-sales began on October 8 and will run through Monday, October 13th. Pre-sales begin Wednesday, October 15 at 10:00am CT. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 17 (Jackson’s birthday) at 10:00am CT, should any remain. VIP experiences will also be available.

I had the same reaction. I would have expected artists that are Alan’s contemporaries to be the added attractions. They share may of the same fans, and this would be a great way for them to pay tribute. This is not a dig at the ones named. It’s just that they are not the first names I think of when I hear Alan’s name.

One edit: Lee Ann Womack is an exception. In my opinion she is a perfect fit for this event. Country to the core.

I get the choice of artists.
If you bring out George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire–and why not Wynonna Judd and Tracy Lawrence–it has the feel of a ’90s reunion and Jackson is competing with those other names.
The way they’re doing it conves that Alan Jackson has been influential to and admired by the current generation of artists. And a the atmosphere at a concert is a louder and more electric if the auidience is fillled with a lot of younger people, rather than people like you or especially me. (I’m older than you.)
But it would be nice to see a surprise appearance from a contemporary of Jackson who’s still current–like Tim or Kenny.
I’d bet they’ll have a few sports and entertainment celebrities, too.

Keith Urban and Luke Bryan are on the same label as Alan. Alan has invited Keith over to check out his car collection where Keith ended up buying a car from him, and they have always seemed friendly at industry events. Would imagine that George Strait, Zac Brown Band, and Hank Jr will be among the next acts announced or are surprises. Possibly Martina McBride, Chris Young, or Josh Turner since they’ve each done several tours with him.

Exactly. And I’m not saying there’s zero bleed over from Keith Urban and Luke Bryan fans to Alan Jackson fans. But very few dedicated Alan Jackson fans would ever consider themselves Keith Urban or Luke Bryan fans. These are the dudes Alan Jackson was singing about when he cut “Murder On Music Row.” Sure, they all might be chummy off the stage. But this event is bad curation orchestrated by label types who have absolutely no finger on the pulse of what actual country fans or Alan Jackson fans want. There’s a reason Zach Top was put as an opener on Alan Jackson’s final tour.
The show will be fine. It’s just frustrating that label politics had to be involved as opposed to curating a killer show of traditional and neotraditional country to send Alan Jackson off with a bang.

I too was a little underwhelmed at the guests announced. I sure hope George Strait is announced later. We’d all love to see them belt out “Murder On Music Row” one last time together.

The Keith Urban inclusion bothers me most. It’s been almost 2 decades since he released any good music, let alone any country music. It almost feels like an affirmation of the absolute horseshit he’s been releasing to the public for over half of his relevant career.
No good albums since Defying Gravity, and there were signs and changes on that album that were discouraging.
No great songs since “Stupid Boy.”

This is true to an extent, but a medical condition is slowly taking away his ability to perform. I highly doubt he’s going to be done writing songs.

Keith and Alan Jackson go all the way back to Alan’s Mercury Blues music video. Listening to past interviews, it seems like they’ve developed a friendship over the years.

Jackson is a legend and I have no doubt that artists like Bryan and Urban are fans of his, even if the musical styles they make their money with have little in common with his other than being some variety of “country.” If their presence at that concert offends your sensibilities so much, then step out for a snack, a drink, a smoke or a toke while they’re playing.
As for Zach Top, well, he’s going to be one of the supporting acts at a Decatur, AL, festival headlined by Jason Aldean. That may or may not mean Top is a fan of Aldean, but so what if he is? Appearing on shows that offer attendees the opportunity to hear all sorts of artists and their music, even those far from traditional country (or country at all). I consider it a chance for Zach to preach to the unwashed.
And yes, I am not at all bothered by fans of the neotraditional ’90s country music of Jackson being exposed to Bryan or Urban — or even if some of them actually wind up LIKING some of their music. Same thing if Jelly Roll or Shaboozey had signed up for the farewell show. No need to act like the Taliban here, IMO, regardless of your opinions of what is and isn’t country.

I’m guessing a number of these artists will be coming out and sing or playing on one or two songs with AJ, not all of them will be performing full sets. When it’s your finale, you can bring out whatever friends you want without caring who pisses and moans about it. Jackson has earned the right to go out however he sees fit.

Yea musically im surprised by a few names and surprised some others not there. But its ok. It will be a little too much for my wallet so i wont be going. But im hoping he starts releasing some new songs soon.
