Picking up where Taylor Sheridan’s TV series Yellowstone left off, Landman has been instrumental in the rise of independent country artists that mainstream country regularly ignores. One of the reasons some of your favorite performers have risen from obscurity is due to a Taylor Sheridan series highlighting one or more of their songs, giving them both a handsome payday as well as exposure to a massive audience.
Landman streaming on Paramount+includes Yellowstone‘s Music Supervisor Andrea von Foerster. In fact, Foerster has promised to pack even more songs into each episode, which we saw from the Season 1 Soundtrack.
As songs are showcased in the series, a running tab will be kept here to help folks connect with something that might have connected with them.
NOTE: Certain instrumental songs are often part of the Landman “score,” meaning original music composed specifically for the show by Andrew Lockington. Not all of them have specific names.

When the Turnpike Troubadours released the song “The Devil Plies His Trade (Sn6 Ep3)” on their album The Price of Admission, some wondered if they were foreshadowing its inclusion in a TV series. Apparently it was, though this isn’t Season 6, or Episode 3 of Landman.

It’s a pity that music by female artists is so underrepresented in the Taylor Sheridan series, especially by women from the independent and neotrad scene, from whom there is a lot of good music right now.

Ashland Craft said she got the call and her song “Last 20 Dollars” is slotted but not sure for which episode. It’s a fun barroom honky tonker that’ll show off her insanely powerful voice.

I would like to see more songs from women in the Taylor Sheridan universe. That said, I actually think they’re represented quite well compared to let’s say mainstream country radio. I’ve seen Music Supervisor Andrea von Foerster speak numerous times, and she’s always said it is a priority to include women in the shows, and in pivotal scenes. I’ve seen her speak at panels that included Lainey Wilson and Marry Gauthier. Remember “Yellowstone” didn’t just feature the music of Lainey Wilson, they made her part of the cast. And if Kevin Costner hadn’t blown a gasket, that probably would have been an even bigger deal for her career.
But part of the problem we’re seeing across country music that is going from bad to worse is an inventory issue when it comes to women. There are just so few women in country at the moment, resulting in less songs, less albums, and less opportunities to feature them. I have an article on this coming up soon.

What do you expect from a show that has what have to be the two most awful female characters to ever appear in anything, be it show, movie, book, Tiktok video, etc.
The song I want to hear is “Ring of Fire” playing over their private jet crashing into the ocean after all pilots/crew members have safely jettisoned themselves.
How bad do you want to make money to portray one of those characters? They make Tate McCrae look like Dolly Parton (or choose your favorite, most respected female artist).

It’s a show about the oilfield. Makes sense there would be more artists that are men.

“……. so few women …..” ? Not even an expert, yet I could name a dozen soundtrack worthies..
Now I’ll go all grammar police: fewer song, fewer albums, and fewer opportunities
Less opprobrium, fewer criticisms.
November 16, 2025 @ 5:13 pm
Did you think that people would understand the term oppobrium? Is it even a word?
November 17, 2025 @ 6:06 am
op·pro·brium [əˈprəʊbriəm]
harsh criticism or censure
There we have it.
November 16, 2025 @ 10:15 am
fewer songs, that is – yep, you can go all spelling police on me 🙂

Still shocked Corb Lund’s music hasn’t found its way to Sheridan’s shows – is there another artist who has songs more relevant?

I intensely enjoyed Childers “Bitin’ List”.. Never pay much attention as to whether I’m hearing female or male songs. If it fits the scene I’m happy, otherwise it’s a distraction.

Disappointed that “Cheers to Disagree” wasn’t louder or more prevalent. Hunter Hicks is a talented young man

Love to know the song – Season 2, Episode 4 when the wife is at Monty’s grave…beautiful song
December 9, 2025 @ 9:40 am
Same here !!!

That song is very likely from Andrew Lockington, and part of the music score. They released the score for the first season, and hopefully they will do that for the second season too where we’ll get their tracks and their names eventually.

Cotton Fire vocals sound a lot like Red Shahan. But I can’t be sure as it’s not yet released. But it sounds like a mighty fine song
January 6, 2026 @ 5:15 pm
I came here to find out info about Cotton Fire also. The closed captions confirmed it is Red Shahan.
January 12, 2026 @ 3:35 pm
“Cotton Fire” by Red Shahan was added to Apple Music January 9th!
