Bloodworth Movie w/ Country Cast Available On Demand
The long awaited movie Bloodworth based on the novel Provinces of Night, starring Kris Kristofferson, along with Dwight Yoakam, Val Kilmer, Hillary Duff, Fraces Conroy, and Hank Williams III, has now been released in the United States via Amazon’s Instant Video service.
The movie officially opened May 20th, but was only released in 8 cities. The movie’s release has seen many delays, and originally had the same “Provinces of Night” title as the novel. The bad news is an On-Demand release likely means the movie had trouble finding wide release distribution, and now it may never happen at all. The good news is we can now all see it.
Review from Saving Country Music coming.

E.F. Bloodworth (Kris Kristofferson) has returned to his home a forgotten corner of Tennessee after forty years of roaming. The wife he walked out on has withered and faded, his three sons (Dwight Yoakam, Val Kilmer, & W. Earl Brown) are grown and angry. Warren is a womanizing alcoholic, Boyd is driven by jealousy to hunt down his wife and her lover, and Brady puts hexes on his enemies from his mamma’s porch. Only Fleming (Reece Daniel Thompson), the old man’s grandson, treats him with the respect his age commands, and sees past all the hatred to realize the way it can poison a man’s soul. It is ultimately the love of Raven Lee (Hilary Duff), a sloe-eyed beauty from another town, that gives Fleming the courage to reject this family curse.

Man that is disappointing. I was hoping it would be in theaters so I could actually anticipate a movie in theaters for once…

Doesn’t sound too original, but look forward to seeing all these actors together, besides the Hank III cameo.

Saw it at the Kentucky Theatre, and have to say, it was a massive disappointment. The kickass actors got little face time, the plot was curve-ball after curve-ball, and the dialogue made Snakes on a Plane look like Crazy Heart. The saving grace was what little Kristofferson we got and the amazing soundtrack. Damn shame.
