Cross Canadian Ragweed Officially Reunites at Surprise Mile 0 Fest Set

It’s all happening. And it happened first at Mile 0 Fest Thursday night (1-23) in Key West, Florida.
During a Cross Canadian Ragweed tribute to cap off Thursday night’s festivities at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater in Key West, all four members of Cross Canadian Ragweed took the stage publicly for the first time since they officially disbanded in 2010. The tribute had been planned for a while. Ragweed playing their own tribute came together through circumstance.
We thought the first time anyone would get to see a reunited Ragweed in public would be the “Boys From Oklahoma” shows coming up in April. But after Cody Canada and the Departed (including Ragweed bassist Jeremy Plato) were booked for Mile 0 Fest, and then the Oklahoma band The Smokin’ Oaks were also booked (which includes Grady Cross’s son Slaid Cross), the forces of the universe aligned for all the original Cross Canadian Ragweed members to be on the Key West island at the same time.
Jamie Lin Wilson, Mike McClure, Courtney Patton, Adam Hood, Lucas Jagneaux, Jason Eady, James Ford, JD Graham, Tanner Usrey, and the Red Dirt Rangers also performed during the tribute. So did The Smokin’ Oaks, who played Ragweed’s “Suicide Blues,” as well as Waves In April, which includes Cody Canada’s two sons.
Before the tribute, Cody Canada’s wife stood at center stage with the sons and daughters of the Ragweed members, illustrating that it was a full circle moment before saying, “A lesson learned here tonight is forgive, forget, move forward, and let’s fu–kin’ rock!”
After 13 separate artists performed 13 well-known Ragweed songs, Cross Canadian Ragweed themselves came out on stage for the first time in 15 years. They ended up playing six songs to a raucous and appreciative crowd before sound ordinances shut everything down.
Cody Canada said after the first song, “This is the first time we’ve played in front of human beings in 15 years. So instead of talking and getting all fu–in’ sappy, we’re just gonna play until they tell us to quit playing.”
The Cross Canadian Ragweed set list was:
1. Number
2. Lonely Girl
3. Don’t Need You
4. Lighthouse Keeper
5. Boys From Oklahoma (with Django Walker and Willy Braun)
6. Late Last Night
The “Queen of Mile 0 Fest” Jamie Lin Wilson’s appearance was also a surprise when she started off the tribute performing Ragweed’s song “17.” A mainstay of the festival since its inception, Wilson decided to skip this year as she scales back touring. But the allure of being there to see Ragweed reunite on stage drew her to Key West, at least for one night.
Mile 0 Fest owner/promoter Kyle Carter is who introduced them, and helped pull the set together. He is long-time friends of the band. After the final song, Cater got on his hands and knees, and bowed before Cody Canada for bestowing him the opportunity to have the official reunification happen on the Mile 0 Fest stage.

The news first broke on Saving Country Music that the legendary lineup of Cross Canadian Ragweed was reuniting on September 30th. Cody Canada (lead guitar/vocals), Randy Ragsdale (drums), and Grady Cross (guitar), and Jeremy Plato (bass) announced a reunion show in Stillwater, Oklahoma at T Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK on April 12th, 2025.
Then all hell broke loose. Tickets sold out immediately, and hotel rates in Stillwater went to $500+ if you could find one. Cross Canadian Ragweed eventually added three more shows, along with inviting fellow Oklahoma bands the Turnpike Troubadours, original Red Dirt legends The Great Divide, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, and Stoney LaRue to the show. The Mike McClure Band will also perform one night.
What happens at Mile 0 Fest, rarely stays at Mile 0 Fest. As one of the first festivals on the calendar, what happens resonates for the rest of the year. In 2024, it was Mike and the Moonpies announcing the name change to Silverada. In 2025, it is the reunification of Cross Canadian Ragweed.

I guess I got interested in Jamie Lin Wilsonās music too late. Iād sure like to see her live, but it wonāt be anytime soon if ever.
Does Boys from Oklahoma still resonate? Oklahoma is the Wild West of weed legalization now. Itās not even remotely edgy anymore to talk or sing about it in 2025. But yeah, it was a fun song bag in the old days.

That’s encouraging news! I hope that means there will be new music from Cody and the band.

Makes my Friday! Now, I have to play”42 Miles.”

The news first broke on Saving Country Music that the legendary lineup of Cross Canadian Ragweed was reuniting on September 30th when Kyle elbowed the band out of the way so he could be the first to report it and feel like a big man.
Just had add back in the part you edited out.
January 24, 2025 @ 9:45 am
It wasn’t the band I elbowed š
January 24, 2025 @ 9:47 am
But you admit you elbowed someone in order to make yourself feel important.

@geoffinok on Tik-Tok broke the news. It had been shared thousands of times and hotel inventory was sold out in Stillwater before I ever said a peep about it. It was the worst kept secret in country music. Not my fault others didn’t have their ears to the ground to get the info out first.

No need to defend yourself Trig. As far as the majority of us are concerned, your only fault is not taking bait. Think about it this way. Being on the ball and working hard results in so many people not having to look at a bunch of stupid “country” websites every day to sift through garbage about some guy named Hardy to find news about rad stuff. Don’t let people who have problems with everything make you feel like you have to answer to garbage.
January 24, 2025 @ 3:19 pm
Sorry….taking bait not not taking bait.
January 24, 2025 @ 2:08 pm
What/why does it matter?
An announcement on their social media would have been forgotten by viewers as soon as they scrolled to the next algorithmically-fed article popped up in their feed. How many random folks are checking out Cross Canadian Ragweed’s website on the regular considering how long their hiatus was?
The only people who should care about SCM “breaking it” first are the people that Ragweed was paying for promotion that had to try even harder to justify the cash given to them by the band…
January 24, 2025 @ 11:40 am
Heās a fucking journalist!! What do you think is the appropriate time he should have waited to report the event? Trig has integrity and hustle and heās been doing this for almost two decades and has earned the right to elbow his way to the front.
I hate when people cry and complain when someone else is good at their job.
January 25, 2025 @ 1:44 pm
Isnāt that called āgetting a scoopā? Or are you implying something more nefarious? If so, donāt be so cryptic. Spell it out for us mouth breathers on the outside.
January 24, 2025 @ 9:43 am
God Iām so excited to see them in April
January 24, 2025 @ 9:45 am
Getting too old for this, it was such a late night but what a night!
January 24, 2025 @ 1:57 pm
That should’ve been fun. I saw CCR twice at Schroeder Dance Hall (2002, 2004). They were a solid act. In 2002 they performed as part of a fundraiser for Tommy Elskes to maybe 75 people, since they went on very late. I wonder if I have still have a signed CD in storage.
January 24, 2025 @ 2:44 pm
i love mile 0 fest. it’s the best!
and it was the perfect spot for ccr’s reunion show.
but i do wonder what some who paid top dollar for an oklahoma show think about this preemption.

Out of curiosity, not trying to stir shit up, do they still say “those faggots down in Norman” or whatever on Boys from Oklahoma?
There’s a live youtube video of several of the texas/red dirt artists of the early 2000’s singing that song, each making up their own verses, some were cool, some were not. It was very post 9/11 america fuck yeah type shit, or a couple of the verses were at least. Been a while since I watched it. They were all pretty fucked up if I remember correctly.
January 24, 2025 @ 5:05 pm
I swear all music festival owners / promoters look the same.
January 24, 2025 @ 8:48 pm
It’s really all the same dude, Hop. š
January 26, 2025 @ 7:14 am
I’m excited about a Ragweed reunion. Wish I could have been there for the tribute.
January 29, 2025 @ 4:11 pm
I was so excited to watch the reunion show in Stillwater. Took time off and went through the battle and failed to get tickets for Sat. Then they added Friday. Took more time off, waited forever in the queue and finally my wife got the limit of 8. Awesome, stress is over. Then they announced the Thursday show, so again I went through the entire process for a 3rd time to get reunion show tickets and took another day off. Got them and now finally I can rest. Bought tickets for Sat through the aftermarket. Awesome. Going to make a week of it. Now I hear they already played the reunion show in FL. Feel like I was lied to, so I’m probably going to try and sell 2 nights. I’m not even really excited anymore. I really wanted to the see the reunion show. Which was a moving target and very stressful to accomplish. Kinda bummed.
