Cross Canadian Ragweed Officially Reunites at Surprise Mile 0 Fest Set

It’s all happening. And it happened first at Mile 0 Fest Thursday night (1-23) in Key West, Florida.

During a Cross Canadian Ragweed tribute to cap off Thursday night’s festivities at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater in Key West, all four members of Cross Canadian Ragweed took the stage publicly for the first time since they officially disbanded in 2010. The tribute had been planned for a while. Ragweed playing their own tribute came together through circumstance.

We thought the first time anyone would get to see a reunited Ragweed in public would be the “Boys From Oklahoma” shows coming up in April. But after Cody Canada and the Departed (including Ragweed bassist Jeremy Plato) were booked for Mile 0 Fest, and then the Oklahoma band The Smokin’ Oaks were also booked (which includes Grady Cross’s son Slaid Cross), the forces of the universe aligned for all the original Cross Canadian Ragweed members to be on the Key West island at the same time.

Jamie Lin Wilson, Mike McClure, Courtney Patton, Adam Hood, Lucas Jagneaux, Jason Eady, James Ford, JD Graham, Tanner Usrey, and the Red Dirt Rangers also performed during the tribute. So did The Smokin’ Oaks, who played Ragweed’s “Suicide Blues,” as well as Waves In April, which includes Cody Canada’s two sons.

Before the tribute, Cody Canada’s wife stood at center stage with the sons and daughters of the Ragweed members, illustrating that it was a full circle moment before saying, “A lesson learned here tonight is forgive, forget, move forward, and let’s fu–kin’ rock!”

After 13 separate artists performed 13 well-known Ragweed songs, Cross Canadian Ragweed themselves came out on stage for the first time in 15 years. They ended up playing six songs to a raucous and appreciative crowd before sound ordinances shut everything down.

Cody Canada said after the first song, “This is the first time we’ve played in front of human beings in 15 years. So instead of talking and getting all fu–in’ sappy, we’re just gonna play until they tell us to quit playing.”

The Cross Canadian Ragweed set list was:

1. Number
2. Lonely Girl
3. Don’t Need You
4. Lighthouse Keeper
5. Boys From Oklahoma (with Django Walker and Willy Braun)
6. Late Last Night

The “Queen of Mile 0 Fest” Jamie Lin Wilson’s appearance was also a surprise when she started off the tribute performing Ragweed’s song “17.” A mainstay of the festival since its inception, Wilson decided to skip this year as she scales back touring. But the allure of being there to see Ragweed reunite on stage drew her to Key West, at least for one night.

Mile 0 Fest owner/promoter Kyle Carter is who introduced them, and helped pull the set together. He is long-time friends of the band. After the final song, Cater got on his hands and knees, and bowed before Cody Canada for bestowing him the opportunity to have the official reunification happen on the Mile 0 Fest stage.

The news first broke on Saving Country Music that the legendary lineup of Cross Canadian Ragweed was reuniting on September 30th. Cody Canada (lead guitar/vocals), Randy Ragsdale (drums), and Grady Cross (guitar), and Jeremy Plato (bass) announced a reunion show in Stillwater, Oklahoma at T Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK on April 12th, 2025.

Then all hell broke loose. Tickets sold out immediately, and hotel rates in Stillwater went to $500+ if you could find one. Cross Canadian Ragweed eventually added three more shows, along with inviting fellow Oklahoma bands the Turnpike Troubadours, original Red Dirt legends The Great Divide, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, and Stoney LaRue to the show. The Mike McClure Band will also perform one night.

What happens at Mile 0 Fest, rarely stays at Mile 0 Fest. As one of the first festivals on the calendar, what happens resonates for the rest of the year. In 2024, it was Mike and the Moonpies announcing the name change to Silverada. In 2025, it is the reunification of Cross Canadian Ragweed.
