Dwight Yoakam Plots 2025 Tour with Cool Openers
Country music’s King of Cool is hitting the road behind his brand new album Brighter Days—his first in nearly a decade—and he’s taking some other cool folks along with him. Dwight Yoakam might be 68 and gray, but he still puts on one hell of a show, running through one country hit after another.
Before Yoakam heads into 2025, he first has to finish out 2024 where he has some final shows in Texas. He’ll be featuring the excellent songwriter Joshua Ray Walker opening for him, who just received a clean bill of health after a Cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Then 2025 will see a strong run of shows from Yoakam on his “Cosmic Roundup & Rodeo” tour. The Mavericks have always had a strong kinship with Dwight since guitarist Eddie Perez did a stint in Yoakam’s band, and they will be opening all shows. This same lineup played multiple shows together this summer to rave reviews.
Then you have some more dates where Virginia’s country soul aficionados 49 Winchester will also appear, making for a cant-miss lineup if it’s rolling through your town.
Tickets for all 2025 dates go on sale Friday, November 22 at 10 AM local with presales starting November 20 at 10 AM local at dwightyoakam.com.

Oh the severe injustice of life. DY with the Mavericks is playing walking distance from my house (about 2 miles) on a night I can’t go. The universe hates me.
I do however really like his new album and think his voice sounds great. I think perhaps I would rate it higher than Trigger did in the previous article, it’s not his greatest album but it’s pretty darn good.

I’ve seen Dwight a half dozen times. It may be getting near the time to hang it up. He flat out couldn’t sing one night at the Ryman (and no refunds or reschedules were offered). Caught him recently on his tour with The Mavericks and he was….fine. The voice just isn’t there and he did some storytelling that was bizarre. Still a good time, and his band is good and of course the songs and the memories are good.
It’s worth going for The Mavericks alone.

i wonder if you caught him on a bad night?
I was just watching his full show from august 22nd of this year and his voice sounds alright, granted its not as strong as it was 25 or 35 years ago but that’s par for the course as singers age, i wouldn’t say it was shot though ,what do you think?

at least i hope its not as i’m planning on to going to see him live in Tucson in May 2025

My husband and I saw Dwight with the Mavericks and Drayton Farley at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in October. Great show from beginning to end. We saw Dwight at the Ryman in 2022. Both times, DY sounded as good live as listening to him on my Spotify, and the band was terrific. He really is a solid performer who engages the crowd. It is clear how much he loves his band members.
The Mavericks are always good. Can’t wait to see them at The Ryman in a couple of weeks.
Farley was a nice surprise (added to my playlist).

I have seen Dwight play from Ohio to Vegas.
At least 8 venues in Missouri will add 2 more this yr). Another 6 or 7 in Kansas.
Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Missed a few near me due to circumstances beyond my control. Love his music. Never disappointed, except the cancellation of meet and greet one night (around Covid time – beyond anyone’s control).

I saw him last night in Grand Prarie, Texas and he sounded as good as ever. My 5th time to see him and he always puts on a good show. You can tell he enjoys what he does. He will always be one of my favorites.
