George Strait is New Addition to Final Alan Jackson Concert

Finally. When Alan Jackson’s final concert was announced for June 27th at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, there were some really cool names announced to help send the country legend off—folks like Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi, Lee Ann Womack, and others who embrace a more traditional country sound.
But you also had some names like Luke Bryan and Keith Urban that no offense to them, just didn’t seem to fit the bill. The biggest question mark was who was left off the lineup, namely Alan Jackson’s long partner in crime against the ill’s of Music Row, George Strait. Could we even ponder a proper send off without the two reprising their CMA-winning “Murder On Music Row”?
Luckily, all has been set right with the world. Maybe they had it planned this way the whole time, but George Strait has been announced as the latest addition to the “Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale” lineup. He joins Lainey Wilson as another late addition to round out the concert.
Concert tickets soared to exorbitant prices, and sold out immediately when they went on sale, so no luck securing them now if you’re looking. But hopefully the whole thing will be taped and distributed, both in video and audio form for all the Alan Jackson fans who can’t be there.
Luke Combs and Riley Green are also scheduled to perform, but don’t expect full sets from any of these folks. They’re more likely to sing a few songs in tribute to Jackson, and maybe guest with Alan on stage. Also scheduled to perform are members of Alan Jackson’s family, including nephews Adam Wright and Big City Brian Wright, along with Big City Brian Wright’s daughter, Carlisle Wright.
Whenever you see a “final show” announced, you always have to approach them with caution. Many times in the past, performers have announced their finale only to return to touring later. However, in September of 2021, Alan Jackson revealed that he’s been suffering from a degenerative nerve condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The disease is not life threatening, nor does it affect longevity. But CMT does significantly affect coordination, which has restricted Alan Jackson’s ability to perform.

As it should be.

I think it safe to say its jacksons final show. Im not saying hes not gonna do some special appearances like he did for the memorial day thing and that wasnt in person but otherwise i believe this is it. Would have been a great show to see. I hope they save george for last and longest. Sing their typical duets together but it wouldnt be above to maybe hope they could the cowboy rides away even if alan haa never been equated as a cowboy though a good ole boy and a cowboy arent much different.

George & Alan will always be my #:1heros!

This is fantastic! Best news I have heard in forever! We, except the goodbye part but OMD! Someone maybe Lainey Wilson should call Martina McBride because well, She would put the cherry on top!
May 31, 2026 @ 11:28 pm
Martina, sadly, has been having a pretty hard time with her voice. I know it’s gotten a bit better of late as she’s been working hard on it but I’m not sure she’s up for such a public display.

I’d hope they don’t reprise the god-awful “Murder on Muisc Row.”
George Strait and Alan Jackson each flying in on their private jet planes to sing in front of a an audience of people who pay upwards of $2,000 a ticket and lament that the industry committed murder by taking George Jones off the radio would be a level of clueless hypocrisy that’s hard to fathom.
May 31, 2026 @ 6:03 pm
But I bet if you got a ticket you would be ecstatic and would keep your mouth shut with your negativity.
May 31, 2026 @ 8:44 pm
I think my “negativity” honors the spirit of that song. lol.
June 1, 2026 @ 9:00 am
I bet Larry Cordle would disagree with you
June 1, 2026 @ 12:31 pm
Personally, I hope someone comes up with a couple of new verses. ( I mean, country radio has gotten SO much better in the last twenty years, hasn’t it? /sarcasm off.)
June 2, 2026 @ 5:46 pm
I surely hope they do!!! Great song about a real establishment good old boys town.

Good call by Alan (or his people). Strait was never really Jackson’s “long partner in crime against the ill’s of Music Row,” though. While they did record the “Murder On Music Row” duet, Strait later said he did it as a lark. You know Jackson didn’t see it that way. And while Alan has never been afraid to speak out and even bite the hand that feeds, George has always toed the line.
In my opinion Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time’s original recording was the best version of “Murder On Music Row.” Anyone who hasn’t heard it, check it out.
June 1, 2026 @ 12:32 pm
In which ways does Alan bite the hand that feeds him? and how does George Straight tow the line? Alan Jackson has that song “3 minute upbeat love song”, which I guess can be considering biting the hand, anything else?
June 2, 2026 @ 5:22 pm
Well alan has done a few protest of things he didnt particularly like. The george jones thing being one and the walking out on beyonce if true could be another. Also having his drummer not even use drum sticks while performing on one of the awards. George hasnt ever really been one to rock the boat.
May 31, 2026 @ 4:10 pm
Interesting. Two singers and one guitar player.
May 31, 2026 @ 4:58 pm
If he retires he’s had a great run no need to come back and do more
May 31, 2026 @ 5:54 pm
It’s too bad that Jimmy Buffett is gone, that would be the pairing of the night! Who knows, maybe Willie will drop in for a song or two.
May 31, 2026 @ 6:56 pm
I wish you all would play the 250th July 4th celebration
May 31, 2026 @ 11:45 pm
Carrie Underwood will be there as well. She’s frequently talked about how much Jackson and his music has meant to her. She performed Remember When during the CMAs when he received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement award and covered Look at Me on her second album. So it will be great to hear her sing (presumably) something else of his.
June 1, 2026 @ 9:29 am
She also performed that song at the Opry a few years back and it was lovely. 🥰
June 1, 2026 @ 9:08 am
Alan and George they are the two Country Boys. Everyone else, smoke and mirrors .
June 1, 2026 @ 10:21 am
Garth is in the UK on that day so he is probably the only big omission.at this point.
June 2, 2026 @ 6:36 am
Garth never frequented those circles anyway.
June 2, 2026 @ 9:56 am
I love Alan Jackson and George Straight they are the real deal .They are Super Stars in my Book.
June 4, 2026 @ 4:32 pm
Wel apparently nbc will be airing this sometime later this year. Probably wont be the whole show but better than nothing.
