Gothic Country’s Slim Cessna’s Auto Club Plots Busy 2018 Tour Schedule
If you know Gothic country, then you know Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, or at least you should. The seminal Gothic country band that has been helping define Gothic country for over two decades with it’s strange mix of mad roots and wild stage shows. The Denver, CO outfit will be hitting the road hard and heavy in 2018, especially in Europe where like so many underground roots bands, Slim Cessna’s finds its greatest support. As long-time fans will attest, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club live is one of the strangest, yet most enveloping experiences out there in music.
The band has also just re-released one of it’s most defining records, 2008’s Cipher in a gatefold double LP. The record was originally recorded for Alternative Tentacles, and is being reissued by the band’s own label, SCACUNINCORPORATED. The band plans to eventually re-release all their records through the independent outfit. Their last record, The Commandments According to SCAC was released in 2016 after a five year hiatus.
Along with Slim Cessna collaborator, songwriter, and co-frontman Munly Munly and guitarist Lord Dwight Pentacost, the current Slim Cessna’s Auto Club lineup includes Rebecca Vera, drummer Andrew Warner, and upright bass player Ian O’Dougherty. The band is currently in Europe supporting Nathaniel Rateliff & Night Sweats. Then after a couple of shows at home in Denver, they will be heading out to Europe again for their own headlining tour, and then on to an extensive tour starting in July in the United States, including a stop at Red Rocks.

Trying a bit too hard again here trigg. Loosen the grip on the club and replace this with coverage of the Blake Berglund’s of the world. Are you also into health goth?

And if “Crooked Old Earth” isn’t a finalist for song of the year (mops the painfully obvious and sappy “vampires” under the rug), I won’t know what to say no more.

I’m trying too hard?
Why the fuck is it that every time I post an article these days, it’s taken as an insult to every other artist I didn’t just write an article about? So I purposely wrote about this instead of writing about Blake Berglund?
I have no idea what “health goth” is, but I’ve been writing about Slim Cessna’s Auto Club for a decade. Fuck me for throwing them some tour support.
If you have a suggestion, please navigate to the Contact page and leave one. I love to hear what folks are listening to. But starting off by insulting somebody is never the best way to get them to listen to your suggestions.
Happy Easter.

It’s funny that your head is so big that you think you have a suggestion box. It’s called the damn internet comments, trigg. You know, where you spend most of your time. If you need a suggestion box or an email address to write about artists like Blake Berglund or Jeremy Pinnell, while you cover Musgraves or other cannon fodder, you really should re-assess your mission here. Also, add Courtney Patton to your little play list you put out, before all remaing credibility is lost.

Why don’t you start your own website and then you can write about whatever you want?

Apparently it’s fashionable to be offended by aa many things as possible these days. Some of these people seem to live for it. Screw ’em…

No idea what you people are whining about. Slim Cessna’s Autoclub is definitely one of the best live acts out there, and Cessna/Munly are a great songwriting team.

I am intrigued too by Kid Congo Powers and the Pink Monkey Birds opening the 10 shows listed between 8/28 and 9/9. Loved every band he’s been in. Those could be some epic nights.

I moved to Denver just over a year ago and still haven’t seen some of the local bands I was super excited to see before moving here, including Slim Cessna, Wovenhand, and a couple other metal bands. I’ve seen dozens of other shows here but guess I keep putting these off thinking I can see them anytime. I think it’s finally time to check SCAC since I’ve listened to their music for a while and never seen them live. Speaking of shows, I just saw the Goddamn Gallows on Friday (not knowing they had a new album). I’d ask Trig for a review of that album but it’s basically what you would expect if you’re already a fan. Although I enjoyed the new album, I don’t think there’s much new to add.

SCAC’s “American Country Music Saved Her Life” is one the best/wildest live albums I’ve ever heard. Hope to catch them in Indy. Thanks for the heads up trigger.

Been reading this site since I was in high school and I really have no idea why people post comments on here to complain or hate. People are reading this site to see your opinion on country music. Disregard the people that treat this like music awards. Keep up the good work trig.
