Miley Cyrus Trashes Pop Country ?
I love that pop country has become so contrived and transparent, that even other pop stars and people like Kid Rock can see right through the sham. Some people have been waiting for Billy Ray’s daughter to join the ranks of pop country, surmising that it’s not if, but when. But instead Miley Cyrus joined the ranks of dissenters in a recent interview in Parade Magazine, where she talked about why she’s steering clear of the country scene:
“It scares me, that’s why. It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you’re wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it’s not going to sell. I think that’s why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all.
When a Disney-manufactured superstar that is about as pop as bubble gum can see how contrived your music is, and even can see the the politics involved in the whole thing, it speaks of just how bad the wanton systematic flaws in the Nashville music machine have gotten.

Billy Ray Cyrus got out of POPcountry because he was a one hit wonder. How contrived is it when you have the world by the string, Walmart in your pocket, Disney kissin’ your ass and country music scares you?! Her whole career seems contrived and it feels like her publicity statement is too.

Awww, I like Miley! I don’t think she’d ever need to delve into the pop-cunt genre as she has a successful pop music career. My impression of alot of those pop-country performers is they basically fail to ignite a career in their first preferance of pop music, so they do the pop country route as a backup plan. And good on Miley – she’s probably taking a direct swing at her contemporaries like Taylor Swift.

It’s funny but I guess you have to be a 17 year old bimbo to see whats happening. Miley Cyrus and her loser dad aren’t doing much of anything. She’s famous because her dad was famous for a while. But, now it’s like Billy Ray Cyrus who? Take a look in the mirror, make your own fame and fortune, instead of living off your dads glory days. Gosh being a little Disney girl must be amazing. Not.

Another good point. But you have to understand that for someone like Miley, all the country she knows IS pop country, Her dad is Billy Ray ffs, so I don’t take this as an affront on REAL country artists. My guess is Miley doesn’t know Wayne Hancock from Adam, and probably has no idea Hank Williams even has a grandson.

I’m sure she means pop country and Nashville when she says that, she probably has no idea what a 100-capacity bar and a Wayne Hancock show is. I do think it’s funny, but the Nashville execs are still gonna be counting their money even with other pop stars pointing out their absurdity.

That’s bullshit.. Look at Hank 3 and the other boys, They sing about Women, Drinkin, Druggin, Hardships, Life in general and they are making a killing and look at their fan base especially Hank 3’s so i don’t know where the fuck she get’s her information from could possibly be her father who is more and likely jelous cause he couldn’t be like Willie & Waylon or Hank Williams Jr.

Nobody said you had to be sweet as a pie, Did she even think for a moment that maybe alot of these country folks were raised up right by their mama’s to be respectful and show some common courtesy?? I don’t think so and that to me is scary. To think someone who is so small minded and doesn’t have a clue seem’s kind of sad considering that she is my age and i probally have more of brain then she does.

I too am wondering if she is putting down pop country or all country. I heard an interview of billy ray cyrus a couple years ago, just when miley was becoming a pop star. And he mentioned that Waylon him and Miley were close friends and Miley looked up to Waylon a lot. Not sure what to think of that, since the interview didnt go into great detail…all i know is that i turned it off pretty quick cause i didnt want to keep hearing achy breaky heart over and over.

Im sick of all the Pop country crap. THey cant make it in pop so they move to country. Its crap. We have all these stupis band coming out that look like they are preppy little sissy boys, with their stupd highlights and blonde hair tips. Then the guys who try a little harder to pass off as real country use a FAKE as Hell twnag that is just insulting.
