Newest Additions to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#49)
Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Playlist is all about trying to keep you up-to-date with the best in the latest songs and albums being released, and we got a few doozies for new additions. Let’s first start off with the earthy new selection from Cody Jinks called “Same Kind of Crazy As Me.” The first taste of new music from him since his 2018 Lifers album, it comes with some mystery and confusion surrounding just exactly how much music Jinks is scheduled to release in October. Will he have two albums instead of one? We’ll just have to stay tuned.
Another artist who has caught us out of left field is full-time Navy enlistee turned songwriter Zach Bryan, who has stunned the Texas country and Red Dirt scenes with his amazing acoustic album DeAnn. Really, a listen to the entire thing is the only way to get the full-bodied experience from this unexpected gem (read his story), but the song “Shivers Down Spines” has been selected as a good representation from the set to include here.
Speaking for great new albums, Croy and the Boys have put out a pretty wild one in Hello High-Rise, and the song “I’m Broke” has been added here for your listening enjoyment. Ashley McBryde has a new single out, and the excellent “One Night Standards” continues to prove she’s a shimmer hope of the future of the mainstream. Vince Gill has a new record out called Okie, and the opening track, and arguably one of the best from the record called “I Don’t Wanna Ride The Rails No More” has been added here.
True country music Outlaw Dallas Moore will have a new record out called Tryin’ To Be A Blessing October 4th, and his new song “Everything But You” makes the list. And last but not least, the Billy Strings slot on the playlist has been refreshed with his latest song “Everything’s The Same” off his upcoming album HOME out September 27th.

This whole Zach Bryan thing seems VERY contrived. His virality is strictly through established sites. And his stuff just ain’t that good. Seems like astroturf campaign

Zach Bryan’s virility has nothing to do with any website. I was over a week behind the phenomenon myself, and he’d already racked up incredible numbers before anyone in the media said a peep. The epicenter of it has been Twitter. This is truly a word-of-mouth thing. You may not like his music, and that’s understandable.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, heard his guy’s acoustic album a few years back. Hoping he makes a new album soon. Definitely on the radar.

As a slightly weird request, could you include a ‘making way’ section just to list the songs you’ve removed in this rotation? There’s usually one or two songs I suddenly remember and can’t find what they were without trying to cross-reference this SCM playlist with the last one.

i have to say …i wasn’t all that impressed with tanya’s ‘wheels of laredo ‘ when I listened here . BUT i watched her deliver a flawless powerhouse vocal performance of it live on fallon the other night and reminded myself of just how unique her sound and talents are and how they stand out from the fray . she was absolutely superb .

“One Night Standards – Ashley Monroe – (single)
Sure?
Ashley Monroe?
Google Play says “One Night Standards” is a Morgan Wallen Song.
Wrong: it’s…Ashley McBryde!

Is there no love for the Highwomen on this site? I can’t stop listening to their new album, every song on it is a great country song, I like their version of Wheels of Laredo much better than Tanya’s

I’ve posted numerous articles about the Highwomen already, and a review is forthcoming. If you want to know why one hasn’t been posted already, take it up with Elektra Records and specifically the band’s publicist—Asha Goodman—who specifically chose to exclude Saving Country Music from being serviced the record so a review could be posted on the release date as intended.
