Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#132)

Take a breather from bad Christmas music to get a head start on some of the best music that’s coming out ahead of the new year. Some of the best stuff in 2023 was released in the final weeks and months, a lot of big albums will be coming out in early 2024.

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs just added.

Newest Additions:

Casper McWade – “Tonight” – Oklahoma songwriter Casper McWade is getting ready to release his new album Something for the Pain on January 5th, and this song about running to an old lover and wondering if there’s any flame worth rekindling will get you excited for it.

Johnny Falstaff – “Fallen” – Falstaff has officially kicked Cancer’s ass and returned to Texas after living in Germany for a spell. Already raising a ruckus in Houston and beyond, he’s ready to relaunch a national conversation behind his music with this song showcasing his smooth delivery and honky tonk disposition.

Jaime Wyatt – “Ain’t Enough Whiskey” – Wyatt takes a more soulful approach to her new album Feel Good. But this track hearkens back to her Outlaw country beginnings, serving up an infectious melody hard to not sing along with.

Bailey Rae – “Broken Heart To Broken Heart” – This super traditional track written by Rebecca Lynn Howard will get Bailey Rae on your radar if she wasn’t before. From Oklahoma, “Broken Heart To Broken Heart” announces her as one of the best prospects coming out of the Texas/Oklahoma region.

The Wilder Blue – “The Line” – Though this Texas supergroup is sometimes compared to The Eagles with their sound, the song “The Line” gives you chill bumps through its recollections of Crosby, Still, and Nash. Writer Zane Williams does what all great songwriters do, which is reflect the times in which they live, articulating truths we all hold to be self-evident, but seem to never be able to articulate as well as we wish.

Joshua Ray Walker – “Thank You For Listening” – Walker had the idea for this song for a while as a way to show appreciation to his fans. But after a recent diagnosis of colon Cancer, the song took on a deeper and more poignant meaning. This acoustic solo track will be one of numerous acoustic tracks Joshua Ray Walker will release in an upcoming album of the same name.

Clyde and the Millitailers – “Song for a Scarecrow” – Clyde McGee focuses mostly on more Appalachia folk-style songs and old-time numbers, but this new track from him takes on a distinctly neotraditional country vibe. You might also recognize McGee as the banjo player for the Bridge City Sinners.

Robert Henry & the Repeaters – “Gimmie a Guitar” and “B Side Women” – This band from Portland, Oregon pulls off the rare double add due to the badassness for their new album The Way It Usually Goes. The voice of Robert Henry gives off serious vibes of Junior Brown and Waylon Jennings.

Low Water Bridge Band – “Whiskey Dark” – This band embodies the very kind of roots-based sound and insistence on quality songwriting that has spearheaded the country music insurgency bursting out from country music’s mother land. Proudly from the Shenandoah Valley, these boys thread their experiences there through their original songs.
