Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#159)

Country music doesn’t belong to the suits in Nashville. It belongs to YOU, the actual fans of country, and we’re taking it back one song at a time. You can find many of those songs here.
The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs just added.
Newest Additions:
Kathryn Legendre – “Here’s Your Honky Tonk” – You want some honky tonk music? Well here you go. Austin’s honky tonk sweetheart is serving it up hard and heavy in the form of the title track to her new album out June 27th.
Joe Stamm Band – “Territory Town” – For fans of independent country and Southern rock, Joe Stamm turns in what could be the “Song of the Summer.” Nostalgic, with hints of Mellencamp, Joe seems incapable of writing a bad song. He’ll have a bunch of new ones on his upcoming album Little Crosses out July 11th.
Jamie Lin Wilson – “Simple Enough” – Jamie Lin Wilson is supposed to be semi-retired, but here she is dropping this sweet little tune slyly and smartly co-written with Erin Enderlin.
Reese Glover – “Time and Time Again” – With his debut single, Resse Glover gives off vibes of Charles Wesley Godwin and Tyler Childers in a super well-written song that will strike straight at your heart.
Sam Stoane – “Coyote Cries” – If you’re a fan of Colter Wall, you must get Sam Stoane and her spectacular new album Tales Of The Dark West on your radar. Excellent voice, excellent songs, excellent traditional country and Western music. “Coyote Cries” starts off her new album and immediately sucks you in,and received the highest album rating at SCM in 2025 so far.
Sam Stoane – “Pretty Poppies”– Killer murder ballad from Sam Stoane here that will leave you with goosebumps.
Dan Lepien – “Neon Dream” – Dan Lepien is the local Wisconsin honky tonk hero with music the whole world can appreciate. His new album The Honky Tonk Traditional became an immediate favorite of many.
Sunny Sweeney – “Diamonds and Divorce Decrees” – Sunny Sweeney isn’t holding back on the heartbreak. She’s putting it front and center in the debut song from her upcoming album Rhinestone Requiem out August 1st.
The Castellows – “Broke” – They’re young and cute, but don’t let that fool you into thinking these three sisters from Georgia don’t pack a punch when it comes to writing quality songs. “Broke” is an ode to love and commitment told through a story set in coal country.
Honorable mention: Cole Chaney’s “Alone?” Folks have been waiting for new music from Cole ever since his 2021 acoustic album Mercy. At 6 minutes and sort of a grunge country vibe, it didn’t fit on this playlist, but might fit on yours.

That Cole Chaney song boy idk. It’s the vocal performance more than anything where he sounds like the guy from Creed. Doesn’t sound anything like the guy from his first album I liked so much

“Territory Town” is a banger! Definitely my Song of the Summer. Those who haven’t checked out Joe Stamm Band yet are sorely missing out. One of the best (and definitely most underrated) acts out there right now.

Cole rockin the Soundgarden T and long hair. Will be interesting to see what kind of set he puts on at the Blue Ox in a couple weeks. At least know we know what he’s been up to the last few years.

“Territory Town” is going to sound fantastic blaring out of the rolled down windows at the Tasty Freez while sucking’ on a chili dog on a hot summer night. Made me run down an 80’s/90’s rabbit hole the other day spinning Mellencamp, The BoDeans, and even some Henry Lee Summer. Jinks’ “Better than the Bottle” is magnificent and feels like one that could easily fit right in on his magnum opus “Adobe Sessions.” Ashland Craft released her sophomore album “Dive Bar Beauty Queen” and proves she’s as much of a badass as Taylor Hunnicut, Darci Carlson, and Ashley McBryde. Her raspy voice is what Stevie Nicks would sound like with a thick South Carolina accent. It’s a terrific collection of songs rooted in country but layered with rock, soul and blues accents.

Any word on when Jamie Lin Wilson might tour again? I’m a latecomer to her music but would love to see her perform on the Front Range.

She still plays out and does intermittent tours upon occasion. But with four kiddos at home, I think she’s content to keep music music ina place where it doesn’t interfere with more important things to her.

A great listen as always. I have also just given a listen to Ward Davis – The Bordello Sessions which has just been released. Just him and his guitar live before a small audience. He is engaging singer songwriter. A good listen.

New Local Honeys song is great, but might be more Folk than Country. I have a hard time differentiating between the two

You should add Brent Cobb “even if it’s broke”! Can’t stop playing it.
