Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#83)

It’s been a while since we loaded up the playlist with new selections, and there have been a ton of superb new songs released over the last few weeks. This results in a massive update of some excellent new tracks that deserve to be on your radar, so look alive.

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to.

Newest Additions:

Charlie Marie – “Soul Train” – “It’s all about the country, not the fame. Come take a ride on a soul train,” Charlie Marie commands on the opening song of her stellar new album Ramble On, and what better way to start off the playlist? Charlie Marie and Ramble On are fire folks, and the new song joins Charlie’s “Heard It Through The Red Wine” already on the list.

Summer Dean feat. Colter Wall – “You’re Lucky She’s Lonely” – Steel guitar and plenty of it, as well as an appearance of Colter Wall in both the singing and the writing of this song makes it a righteous introduction to Summer Dean, and her upcoming album Bad Romantic out in August. (read more)

The Shootouts – “Here Come The Blues” – The Shootouts are Ohio’s preeminent throwback honky-tonk band, and they’ve just released their latest album Bullseye produced by Chuck Mead. “Here Comes The Blues” illustrates the band’s ability to work within classic country themes yet still feel fresh and relevant to today.

Dag Erik Oksvold – “Love You More” – What, you’re not up on the latest singles in country music from Norway? Well maybe you should be. If you think you have to be from the deep South to play country, behold this Norwegian-born artist school most American country performers with his debut single. Great song.

Shelby Lee Lowe – “Just Don’t” – This dude’s always got the best country singles coming straight out of nowhere with the perfect writing and arrangement for an infectious classic country sound. “Just Don’t” is just the latest.

Michael Monroe Goodman – “Only If It’s With You” – Goodman has his first new record in some six years on the way soon, and this new single will get you salivating for what he has in store. This dude knows country.

Lauren Mascitti – “One Life Stand” – Lauren wowed many of us in 2020 with her album God Made a Woman, and now she’s back with this sultry new single that turns the idea of a one night stand on its head. A great video accompanies this release as well.

American Aquarium – “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer” – AA dug deep into their redneck roots for their recent surprise album Slappers, Bangers, and Certified Twangers of 90’s country hits, and they revitalized this old Sammy Kershaw number just about perfectly.

Cory Keefe – “Deeper Well” – Cory Keefe has an excellent voice that he brings to classic country music, and has just released an entire record of the stuff called I’ll Keep It Country. “Deeper Well” delivers the kind of true country goodness you can expect.

John R. Miller – “Faustina” – If you can’t get enough of guys like Tyler Childers and Arlo McKinley who define the very heart of the authentic Appalachian sound, then John R. Miller needs to be occupying space in your musical catalog as well, if he isn’t already. New album Depreciated from Rounder on the way July 16th. (read more)

The Steel Woods – “Run On Ahead” – We think of The Steel Woods as a blazing Southern rock band, but now for the third album in a row, they’ve proven to be preeminent songwriters as well. Even before the death of Jason “Rowdy” Cope, you couldn’t help but be deeply stirred by a song like this, and it’s just one of many from All of Your Stones.

Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, Jon Randall – “Am I Right or Amarillo” – The Marfa Tapes by Miranda, Jack, and Jon were as good as advertised, and their spot on the playlist has been freshened with arguably one of the best tracks from the release.
