The Mavericks Launch 30th Anniversary World Tour
Whether you’re a fan of The Mavericks from the days of old when they were winning CMAs and ACMs back in the mid 90’s and launching radio hits like “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” or their newer era with albums like their return record In Time from 2013 that won Saving Country Music’s Album of the Year, whenever they’re rolling through your town, The Mavericks are a sure bet for one hell of a show to see. Even if you’ve never heard a lick of their music whatsoever, don’t be afraid as a country music fan to mix your twang with a little Latin influence. The Mavericks bring the party, and are one of the best live acts in all of music.
In 2019 The Mavericks are celebrating three decades of performing together, and have just launched a 30th Anniversary Tour to celebrate the milestone. With 70 dates that include trips to Europe, Canada, residencies at Gruene Hall in Texas and Tarrytown in New York, and a headliner set at the Ryman Auditorium, there’s plenty of opportunities to see this force of nature, and one of our generation’s most gifted singers and frontmen, Raul Malo.
“I’m not one to look back, I never have been,” says Malo. “I always want to move forward with our music and look to the future, and our fans want that too — they always respond really well to every new album. But if you can’t celebrate 30 years in such a tough business as the music industry, what can you celebrate? I’m proud that we’ve made our mark and it’s good to celebrate that. I think we’ve found the perfect way to mark these 30 years without thinking only about the past and I’m really excited to get out and play these shows.”
Saving Country Music took in The Mavericks performing earlier this year at Mile 0 Fest, and the outfit proved beyond a doubt that they still have it and then some, delivering one of the best performances of the entire festival.
“We’re going to be bringing stuff out from the very early material right up to the most current,” says guitarist Eddie Perez. “And we’re going to present that in a way that’s a little special. A real production, shall we say!”

The Mavericks gave one of the most entertaining concerts I’ve ever attended a couple of years ago in Birmingham. Malo’s voice + talented musicians = truly top notch music.

I saw them a few nights ago at the Beacon in New York City. They were fantastic, had the whole place singing and dancing, just like always. Great selection of older classics and good songs from the new era. The band was great as always, with Eddy Perez in particular tearing it UP on guitar like usual. Raul was in great voice and had the crowd eating out of his hand within two songs. Having seen them back in the day in Fresno CA (don’t ask) and several times in LA and NYC since the reformation, I can say they have never failed to blow my mind. My girlfriend, a mere youngster, loves them now too (good to see they can skew across multiple age groups).

always a good thing when a band does a world tour and fails to touch half the world…
maybe one day Australia will be included as part of a world tour.
