Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan & Pitbull – The Collab Nobody Asked For

One of the greatest voices in country music. And still, when Trace Adkins bites the dust, he’ll be most remembered for “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” kicking the ass of his own impersonator on a cruise ship, the puppet sex in the video of his stupid song “Brown Chicken Brown Cow,” and now this.
Boy, we thought we’d rounded the corner on terrible Trace Adkins songs just like we’d squashed the pandemic with vaccines, only to have this vomitous monstrosity foisted upon us like a new, virulent COVID strain especially adept at circumventing immunization, killing all our grandmothers, and dooming us to wearing face diapers for eternity.
Like a crack team of Wuhan virologists looking to game nature to concoct the most diabolical superbug possible, they took an already terrible Trace Adkins song, added a bit of Luke Bryan for bad measure (as if he’s got anything that could boost this effort), and then of all things, dredged up the nuclear ass whip that is “Mr. Worldwide.” That’s right, freaking PITBULL makes an appearance, as if they were actively attempting to shoehorn in the worst of all possible elements into this “song.”
There were more people clamoring for Bill Cosby to be let out of prison than for this triumvirate of musical evil to conjoin their powers of collective suckitude into audio form to then be extruded out of the ass end of Music Row to mercilessly skull fuck our ears incessantly.
“Why are you wasting your time on this, Trig! You should focus your time on something more positive.”
Yeah screw that. This is one of the worst country songs of all time, and I’m not about to waste the opportunity to expend any and all accumulated frustrations from life on pummeling this atrocity. From my father never being proud of me to that asshole kid who ripped the flap off of my favorite Trapper Keeper in the 3rd Grade—it’s all being trained on this horror.
Where the country girls at? We’ll if they’re actually country, they’re giving this shit the slip and cranking Cody Jinks and Sunny Sweeney. Seriously, all humans of the female persuasion should be sequestered from having to ever interface with two 40-something men combined with the 59-year-old Trace Adkins white boy rapping lines like, “Where they’re swingin’ them jeans to a hillbilly track. Put me smack dab in the middle of that.”
There is no unit of measurement capable of calculating the depths of depravity a mainstream country dude will sink to when trying to rekindle their relevance. Trace Adkins would duet with Jeffrey Epstein if he were still alive. Adkins is even on record saying “Where The Country Girls At” is “this generation’s ‘Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,’” as if that’s a compliment as opposed to an indictment.
Trace Adkins was also caught saying, “I don’t know where my place is gonna be when the history of what I did is written, but 90 percent of the time, I said what I wanted to say and stuck to my guns and did what I wanted to do.”
I’m not sure if this is a 10%’er or not. But you can release all the superlative album cuts you want. A song like “Where The Country Girls At”—just like “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk”—is an irredeemable offense against the sanctity of country music, and justly relegates you to the dumpster of history.
Two Guns Down (0/10)

there will be an audience for this song. i stay away from trash like this i like more traditional style country music. i was never crazy about trace but that brown cow video was the last straw for me. if he wants to keep singing trash like this. then that is up to him. alan jackson has my ears right now. i just try to tune out the trash. hey trace if you ever want to sing real country music again if it is good then i will give it a listen
July 1, 2021 @ 8:38 am
Hey buddy. I think there’s something about Trace you should know.
*leans in close and whispers..*
I think he might be a Trump Suppor…
*DEAFENING EXPLOSION*
July 1, 2021 @ 9:42 am
Good Lord, can we have a comment section that doesn’t mention Trump for once? Dude’s not president right now, let’s all take a breather.
July 1, 2021 @ 12:11 pm
I guess you missed the page where Mr.Tackett called many readers racist, sexist, and stupid rednecks.
July 2, 2021 @ 7:33 pm
Trump did it right, you gotta admit it and btw I actually am starting to think that Trace’s new album will be one of his best albums yet. He shows that he’s at the top of his game. So what if he has Pitbull on there? Pitbull is a cool guy.
July 3, 2021 @ 6:35 am
Trace is that you?
July 1, 2021 @ 11:01 am
so are the oak ridge boys and travis tritt. and i love their music. they are great singers. i just do not agree with thier politics. I have over 40 oaks albums gospel and country. and i have all of travis tritts album including their new albums. so GROW THE HELL UP! YOU 5 year old toddler.. Do you like the Chicks or Tami neilson or Garth Brooks? probably not because they are progressives.. I am a grown adult. i like all types of singers reguardless of thier political beliefs . so pull your head out of trump’s ass. wipe the crap out of your eyes and read some of my older posts. just another lame responce from another STUPID REDNECK.. get a life.
July 1, 2021 @ 12:01 pm
Why are there so many dumb liberals on a country music forum?
July 1, 2021 @ 12:10 pm
why are there so many stupid red neck conersvatives on country forums? i am suprised they can even read at a second grade level. and I am NOT a liberal. do your home work boy genuis. i just hate stupidity.
July 2, 2021 @ 1:07 pm
“i am suprised they can even read at a second grade”
Insults conservatives while misspelling the word itself along with other words.
Please don’t vote or procreate for the sake of America.
July 2, 2021 @ 1:08 pm
Andrew,
Because they have to destroy anything conservative or rural with their poison. They only want diversity if it agreed with their views. Interesting, isn’t it?
July 2, 2021 @ 7:35 pm
My exact thoughts!
July 3, 2021 @ 4:38 am
Why can’t we talk about the music without insulting one another or making everything political?
July 1, 2021 @ 12:12 pm
Lame? I thought it was kinda clever. I’m sorry it was not up to your obviously sky high standards.
July 6, 2021 @ 1:04 pm
Idiot
March 29, 2023 @ 9:21 pm
Garth Brooks is a puke. He publicly cheated on his wife. Even flaunted his affair with an equally disgusting nobody Trisha Yearwood.
July 4, 2021 @ 5:18 pm
I’m not a Trump supporter, but I don’t care who Trace Adkins votes for as long as the music is good. Loretta Lynn is a Trump supporter but that doesn’t make me think any less of her music. Trace has made some good songs over his career. This is not one of them.
July 6, 2021 @ 12:48 pm
Idiot
July 2, 2021 @ 1:05 pm
I thought you said you were done with rednecks and hicks.
Typical lefty hypocrisy.
July 10, 2021 @ 5:40 pm
Well I have listened to country music since high school and here recently I stopped because most of the music that is being played on so called country radio is not country music.
July 14, 2021 @ 8:41 am
Mr. Bull is wise to collab with the Country mafia. ????????
July 1, 2021 @ 8:40 am
I’d rather get fisted by a Swedish dominatrix wearing brass knuckles than have to listen to this again
July 1, 2021 @ 8:41 am
What is it inside of me that makes me want to listen to songs that release Trig’s wrath? I have to do it, even though I know I’ll hate myself for it. And this… my ears are bleeding and I need a shower.
July 1, 2021 @ 8:52 am
This blog’s pro and anti-Margo readers joining in an epic handshake meme to discuss how fucking terrible this song(?) is.
July 1, 2021 @ 1:37 pm
What does this have to do with…..anything?
July 1, 2021 @ 2:15 pm
It’s a reference to a previous comment thread where people were hotly debating Margo Price, the joke is that hating this song is something we all agree upon. It was referencing a famous meme called Epic Handshake that is about two opposing sides joining forces.
There is a lot of referential material there, but if you don’t get it let it fall into the “you had to be there” category.
July 1, 2021 @ 9:30 am
Somewhere a poorly-aging, bro-country-loving millennial in their mid 30s is unironically bopping their head to this in their favorite pair of True Religion jeans
July 2, 2021 @ 6:55 pm
Or in my wrangler jeans and cowboy hat while I work on the farm but I’m not a pretentious douche like y’all here, it’s a fun song and that’s all it was meant to be, y’all go back to jerking off to all yalls slow ass sappy he stopped loving her today copy cat bullshit
July 1, 2021 @ 9:31 am
This is an epic review. I haven’t even *heard* a Trace song since that badonkadonk garbage was hot on the charts. I used to have a co-worker who loved the song & had it as his ringtone. When nobody was calling his phone, he’d go around singing the song – they still haven’t found the body.
July 1, 2021 @ 9:36 am
This song blows
July 1, 2021 @ 9:41 am
I like pitbull for what he is and I don’t care who knows it……that said this song blows.
July 1, 2021 @ 9:50 am
Epic review. If I never hear another Trace Adkins song, it won’t be long enough 😛
July 1, 2021 @ 9:50 am
Ok, not my thing by a mile, but reading this review first before listening, MUSICALLY speaking, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be from reading the review. CONCEPTUALLY speaking though, of course it’s such lame pandering shit it’s almost funny. The worst though? I don’t know, the competition in the race to bottom is pretty fierce.
July 1, 2021 @ 10:03 am
I agree.
Definitely sucks quite a bit but the newest FGL/Nelly collab is even worse.
July 1, 2021 @ 9:54 am
Oh lord. Worse thing about this is with Pitbull and the Nascar references I’m certain this will be played on Raceday, which means the pain of having to hear this again is likely.
July 1, 2021 @ 9:55 am
I sorta liked (or at least can find the humor in) the Brantley Gilbert worst country song
This flat out sucks
It doesn’t even make sense
July 1, 2021 @ 10:14 am
My wife says the way to redeem this would be to make an animated video with the Three Blind Mice singing and shaking their little canes shouting “Where they at! Where they at! Where they at!!” and at the end they all back into a mouse trap. ????
July 2, 2021 @ 11:14 am
hahahahahahahahah
July 1, 2021 @ 10:18 am
As we have established on Reddit. This material falls under the new country music sub genre: post-bro country
July 1, 2021 @ 10:22 am
I paused Sabaton for this. But only 23 seconds of it before I noped right out.
This sort of thing is to be expected from Luke Bryan, but it’s just embarrassing for Trace Adkins. I mean, from “There’s A Girl in Texas” and “Every Light in the House” to this, to say nothing of those other songs? It’s like every time we all think TA has hit rock bottom, he just manages to keep on digging.
July 1, 2021 @ 11:17 am
This was the last website I was expecting a Sabaton shout-out on. Lol but also quite the band to fix your ears after those 23 seconds.
July 1, 2021 @ 2:52 pm
I am given to believe many of the regular commenters here dig metal to an extent. And yeah, they always hit the spot for me. 😀
July 2, 2021 @ 8:40 am
So I’m not the only one here really excited for the Cody Jinks metal album. Horns!
July 1, 2021 @ 11:52 am
Is Sabaton really that much different from this?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n3Qzj7cQqk0
At least show some self-respect and listen to Amon Amarth instead.
July 1, 2021 @ 12:11 pm
Death metal isn’t really my thing, melodic or not. I’ve heard the traditional complaints about Sabaton and don’t really care about them enough to address them. Heavy metal and war history are two of my favorite things, and so I like what they do, a whole lot. I get that some people don’t and that’s fine.
July 1, 2021 @ 1:41 pm
Reading back, my comment came off harsher than I meant it. It was more of a joke.
The fact that you are bringing up Sabaton on this website shows you are one of the good guys. You know, people that like underground country and metal.
July 1, 2021 @ 2:48 pm
Heh, thanks. No offense taken; it was just more of a matter of fact statement. 😀 An old metalhead friend of mine from high school who later got into country (the real stuff, that is) made the observation that country & metal are like estranged cousins who meet at a family reunion & discover they have a lot in common. Which is an excellent way of putting it, if you really think about it. I told him it was small wonder that we eventually started digging each other’s music. (I started out as a country music fan and only got into metal some time later.)
July 1, 2021 @ 7:44 pm
Although metal and country are very different musically, the audience for both have many similarities.
July 3, 2021 @ 8:14 am
Sabaton is the shit.
I am not a metal fan on average but any band with a song about the Winged Hussars slaying the Ottoman jihadists is badass. Songs about military heroes. Can’t beat it.
July 4, 2021 @ 9:49 pm
The Last Stand and Fields of Verdun are epic..
July 1, 2021 @ 10:58 am
Well my bro-country-lyric bingo card is blacked out after listening to this one.
I love how everyone nowadays supposedly has such reverence for ’90’s country music and yet we just get more of this crap (or bro’s singing about how much they love 90’s country music, or grown men singing about girls (women) or women singing about boys (men) in a juvenile and basic way). How about making music that actually resembles ’90’s country music?! You know…songs that tell stories. Hell, even Chattahoochee told a story – so did Boot Scootin’ Boogie. Songs that had adult storylines about men (not boys) from women – Patty Loveless, Wynonna, Trisha Yearwood, Reba, Suzy Bogguss. I miss substance in songs.
I can’t take one more song that just checks all the boxes of what ‘being country’ is by listing off a series of buzzwords generated to make ‘hit songs people like to party to’. And adding any sense of rap to country music to me is the equivalent of putting ketchup on ice cream. Just please stop.
It doesn’t bother me that this kind of music gets made – it bothers me that Nashville churns it out constantly and labels it country. Meanwhile actual country artists are placed on playlists that don’t even have country in the name of the playlist. Put pop-country in the pop-country genre for once and for all and don’t try to make the argument that country music has just naturally evolved into a more pop/rap sound.
It does bother me when artists who should know better (Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, etc…) make music like this. You listen to their early material next to recent stuff like this and it’s just embarrassing. (Made even more embarrassing because of their age.) Have some self-respect and respect for the genre that is supposedly so dear to you. Better yet, if you call yourself country – act like a damn cowboy and take note of how George Strait, Reba, and Alan Jackson act and the music they continue to put out at their age. Consistent and genuine – never a desperate attempt to stay relevant & cool or to go for a cash-grab/meaningless ‘hit’ on today’s meaningless charts.
We live in a world where everything is backwards and country music is no exception. Music that is labeled country is rarely country and actual country music is labeled a handful of different things. It would be nice if a new organization was formed (similar to the ACM or CMA) – something new – that stuck to it’s guns on what country music is and put it’s spotlight on country artists. Same goes for radio. Country music is alive and well – you just have to dig for it. (Just don’t start digging near anything labeled country.)
July 1, 2021 @ 1:57 pm
Agreed. The class of 89 did alot to bring country back to mature tradition tempered with some modern insight. It died out in the mid 2000s; but our culture has been and is continually dumbed down by reality shows, banal comedy, and daytime talk tv among other things. Casual listener now, if at all.
July 2, 2021 @ 12:11 am
Amen to every friggin’ word of this! I hear so much about 90’s country supposedly making a “comeback,” and yet I still hear so little influence of that kind of music on the radio.
July 1, 2021 @ 11:01 am
It’s a shame that Trigger is such a dumb liberal who feels he needs to inject his politics in his articles. Then complains about any politics in the comments sections.
July 1, 2021 @ 1:04 pm
Hold up… you mean he’s not a basement dwelling incel after all?
July 1, 2021 @ 2:22 pm
Hey Mr. Jake Cutter…
Go fuck yourself
(Insert tough guy GIF)
July 1, 2021 @ 2:31 pm
Critizing the guy who created the website that you’re currently commenting on.
Folks, this here is a new kind of stupid.
The song sucks regardless of the political view point.
Let’s all listen to “Undivided” by FGL & McGraw. Billy was a sweet kid in the 7th grade. He just needed a friend like me.
I apologize for the F-Bomb. Thought this site had a sensor for filthy words. Pardon my French, Jake
July 1, 2021 @ 2:39 pm
No. You know what, I stand by my first comment.
Yeah Yeah. No more Mr nice guy.
( I’m literally just messing around )
July 1, 2021 @ 3:36 pm
I have no idea what the fuck you’re going on about.
July 1, 2021 @ 3:42 pm
It’s on TikTok bro
July 1, 2021 @ 2:46 pm
Eye roll. I find it hilarious that people on this site are constantly calling Trig either a stupid liberal or a dumb redneck conservative like he’s some super morph of both. Reading between the lines in most of what I’ve read he always comes off as somewhat of a middle of the road guy who doesn’t buy into the totality of check every box politics. It feels like to me he always basis his opinions on how he interprets the situation and not how either conservatives or liberals define it. There used to be a thing called moderates that worked together to improve this country kind of feel like that is thing of the past at this point.
July 1, 2021 @ 11:04 am
You know how an artist who’s down on his luck and has lost the rights to his recordings along the way will sometimes re-record his biggest hits in a karaoke studio for release on a Brand X label for distribution in the discount racks at truck stops just to make ends meet?
That’s a lot less pathetic than Trace Atkins singing this song.
July 1, 2021 @ 11:12 am
Buy Dirt collab with Luke Bryan & Jordan Davis is fantastic. Go check that out. It’s Jordan’s next official radio single
July 1, 2021 @ 11:15 am
This is trash. This worth Trigg pushing the destroy button. I really hate how this represents what the masses perceive as “country music.”
F U Trace and Luke. Your music sucks and your legacy sucks!
July 1, 2021 @ 11:21 am
Last Friday, during my commute in the morning, I was listening to my Spotify radar release, with a lot of real country songs, because the algorithm generally works good (Tyller Gummersall, JP Harris, Parker McCollum, Flatland Cavalry, The Wilder Blue, Josh Turner, The Flatlanders, Austin Upchurch…) and suddenly I listen to a very strange and bad song. I get a look at the screen and I see Trace Adkins… in southern France, where I live, there’s a word that would mean WTF, “putain”, and this word is the one that came to my mind… This song is just trash. And it has nothing to do with country music.
July 1, 2021 @ 12:14 pm
I am shocked that I had heard about this previous to this fantastic review (my Google algorithm needs a reset), and I was also surprised to learn that Pitbull is the youngest of the 3 at 40! I can’t imagine someone can possess all the musical skill these guys have and spend all that money and time on such dreadful material, then again Phish has been a band for 30 years or something so who knows. I’m just glad I discovered Bill Carlisle this week, don’t know how I never heard of him but that guy could play some guitar and yodel like nobody’s business!
July 1, 2021 @ 12:44 pm
I am surprised that keith urban wasn`t part of this.. Trace Adkins put out an ep last year that was very good but flew under the radar. He has such a great voice but what the hell was he thinking doing this..
July 1, 2021 @ 1:28 pm
Trace Adkins really can’t stand out of his own way
July 1, 2021 @ 1:40 pm
More reinvention of country to make it more appealing to a “wider audience”(take that “ANY” way you want.). “Old Town Road”(featuring another has been) made this trend ” chic”by diluting traditions. Billy Ray and Trace are the most pernicious, cunning and complicit at destroying country music by their choice of collaborator, content and selling out of tradition for what ever motive. If other forms of music are allowed to have compartmentalized, mutually exclusive traditions, so should country.(BTW and don’t belive the dog whistle that “traditions” means anything more than a fiddle or a banjo since ANYONE can play those instruments.)
July 1, 2021 @ 1:43 pm
Every light in the house is OFF, Trace. Hang it up.
July 1, 2021 @ 3:50 pm
Friends texted to let me know we have tickets for an upcoming Grand Funk Railroad concert late this Fall.
Was a little like *sigh*, since Farner has another band now.
Haven’t read this review, OR listened to this song – but after reading the comments, all of a sudden i’m feeling pretty good about this upcoming GFR concert!
July 1, 2021 @ 3:57 pm
Gosh-awful. And that’s coming from someone who never minded “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” (I was a kid when it came out and thought it was funny as hell at the time, and at least it is self-aware in its stupidity). But there is literally no excuse for this mess of a song (if you can even call it a song).
July 1, 2021 @ 3:59 pm
Wait Trig,
Are you fuc*ing for real?
Your father was never proud of you?
What the hell was his problem?
Without getting all gushy & mushy, some of us are proud of you.
And there are people on here who know how to stand together
July 2, 2021 @ 7:56 pm
“Without getting all gushy & mushy, some of us are proud of you.”
Agreed. You have a lot to be proud of Trig. All of your SCM Papas (and Mamas) are proud of you!
July 1, 2021 @ 6:36 pm
Uh, the first stanza is the same as FGL’s “Smile”.
FGL – “Got on my smell good,
Got a bottle of feel good,
shined up my wheels good,
you’re lookin real good”
This – “Got the mud off my boots,
got the smell good on,
got the truck shined up,
see yourself in the chrome”
Who allowed this? In general. Who looked this over and said, “Yeah, we should charge money for that.”?
July 2, 2021 @ 6:48 am
Ultimately, I don’t think the blame for toxic sludge like this (or, as Linda Ronstadt has notoriously called it, “mall crawler music”) can be laid only at the feet of the the performers. The record labels and the radio station programmers share part of the blame too. But ultimately it tracks back to the country music fans, or **supposed** country music fans, of whom there are far too many of out there, who have bought into this bro-country orthodoxy for the last ten years.
July 1, 2021 @ 6:37 pm
I wish more of these stars that have their best days behind them would learn to age gracefully like Marty Stuart. You don’t have to sell out or be stupid to be relevant.
July 2, 2021 @ 5:04 am
I agree that Marty Stuart has remained relevant. You can wish that Adkins, Bryan, et al would be similar, but it isn’t possible because Marty Stuart is talented and, well, you know the rest.
July 1, 2021 @ 7:45 pm
As bad as this song is, and it abominable, the comment sections of these articles is the worst.
What a bunch of dickbags. Nothing worthwhile, or relevant to add, and most of you suck the enjoyment out of this site faster than something that sucks things really fast.
July 1, 2021 @ 7:56 pm
Thought there were some good comments, but you have to sift through all the political back and forth bullshit on a decidedly non-political post to get to them.
Your comment underscores what I keep trying to tell commenters: People come here to get away from the acrimony of everyday life. And bringing it here is directly damaging to this site. You would think the articles themselves would be the most important element, but I lose more readers due to people being tired of the comments than anything else. Your shitty comments directly affect my livlihood, and my ability to throw support behind worthy artists. Seems like people could just stop reading the comments, but that’s often part of the fun. I do think the comments have improved greatly in 2021. But this article was a train wreck.
July 1, 2021 @ 11:30 pm
Whenever I read people arguing in comment sections I always picture this:

July 2, 2021 @ 12:05 am
Was very tempted to cut it off at 0:04 but somehow made it to 20 seconds. Welp, I guess I might’ve jumped the gun a bit when I mentioned in another thread that Trace was at least trying to record better material (seriously, “Heartbreak Song” and “Ain’t That Kind Of Cowboy” are pretty good songs). Just when I thought he was finally turning a corner, he unleashes this upon us….
I just can’t believe the same artist who recorded songs like “Every Light,” “The Rest Of Mine,” “Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone,” “Don’t Lie,” “I’m Gonna Love You Anyway,” “I’m Tryin’,” etc. and even appeared once on the George Jones show in 1998 would lower himself to recording such trash like this and the many other terrible songs he’s done in the past two decades. Hands down, one of the most polarizing and frustrating mainstream country artists in recent memory. It’s a shame too, because with that voice of his, he could’ve gone down as one of the all time greats, but instead….
July 2, 2021 @ 1:03 am
Ok this is bad but you know what is worse? That fucking Walker Hayes song Fancy Like that just dropped and debut on the charts! Please roast the shit out of it
July 2, 2021 @ 9:01 am
Trace Adkins is so disappointing. In another life, it seems, he recorded some of my favorite music. His first greatest hits album is a strong collection. To go from that to this — a shame.
July 2, 2021 @ 9:45 am
“Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan and Pitbull.” I stopped there.
July 2, 2021 @ 10:58 am
I used to listen to the Trace Adkins song “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” when I was younger… What the fuck was I thinking when I listened to that? Now he comes out with this song featuring Luke Bryan and frigging Pitbull? This is worse than any Niko Moon song or that one song Blanco Brown and Parmalee did together! Whatever piece-of-crap song will country music have to face next? There will probably be even worse country songs in the future! Some people may say country music is dead, but it’s underground. We have people like Charley Crockett who are much better than any old bro-country singer!
July 2, 2021 @ 11:11 am
‘songs’ like this are why Willie told his mom he sold drugs for a living .
July 2, 2021 @ 1:10 pm
The same singer sang “Til the Shot is Fired.” (Surprised that song hasn’t be cancelled yet.)
What a bleeping travesty. What a fall.
July 2, 2021 @ 7:54 pm
Trace Adkins once said he was “not above kissing a little ass at radio” to get a hit. I think the guy would do a whole lot more than that; hell, he’d probably record a disco record if he thought he could get a hit. Or a metal album.
Although he recorded a few good songs way, waaaaayyyyyyy back when, I always found Adkins to be a blowhard and everything he did completely contrived. I’ve never been a fan of his fake persona or his music.
Once, while I was in Nashville on business, I was hanging with a friend of mine who had toured with Adkins at one time. When I mentioned Trace was playing the Opry that night and I would be backstage, my friend asked me to say hi to Trace and his wife if I saw them (my friend had fonds memories of the wife and said she was really nice person).
I saw Trace in the greenroom with Rhonda that evening, sitting apart from everyone, acting all intense and looking miserable. I went up and offered my friend’s hello. Rhonda made a kind remark, asking how my friend was doing, she was so sweet. Trace never said a word, he just got up and walked away.
I laughed; it was so absurd, and my thoughts of him being a complete goof were confirmed.
July 3, 2021 @ 8:04 am
Is the song getting some iHeart hourly airplay love?
Billboard, iHeart & Co. need a new category: desperate former hitmaker of the week singing trashy tracks with other trashy “artists”.

Pitbull? These God-awful hip-hop/country collaborations are such a one-way street. To my knowledge, you don’t see country singers being imposed on hip-hop songs; it’s always the other way around. The reason? Country has no self respect, boundaries or gatekeepers and, as Sammy Kershaw once said, “is the only genre that hates itself. It wants to be everything else, but country music.”

On Reddit (in Grady’s subreddit, which should in theory be slightly more open to this garbage):
“Oh no oh no oh no no no no no”
“Trigger’s review of this is going to be epic”
“I feel like we need to start labelling this new era of country music under a new sub genre:
Post-bro country? Comedy Club Country? Funtry?”
“post-bro country seems accurate. i mean it really takes a postmodern mind to throw this wide a variety of crap against the wall. next we’re gonna have cole swindell feat. cardi b and john cena or something”
“I don’t $ee why they would do $uch a thing.”
It was too much even for people who like mainstream country some of the time.

At this rate it’s only a matter of time before we get a Cardi B or Megan Thee Stallion feature in a “country” song. The Nelly/FGL collab is now getting mainstream country airplay too.

What a missed opportunity. They should have added Sam Hunt then we would have the new Highwaymen. Listening to the garbage music these days makes being waterboarded seem like a slap on the wrist. You really took one for the team reviewing this pos.

It is not much of a song but he is one of those singers who has from time to time released comedic songs to ‘amuse’ and maybe one should not treat this song too seriously and have a chuckle at. It’s not for me but it is in my opinion better than the recent FGL song ‘New Truck’ which still I think is the worst I have heard. Not a song to be taken too seriously but I am sure his new album will have plenty of good music to listen to.

Always good to see Sunny Sweeney’s name mentioned.

made it to 17 seconds….
I’d rather be stabbed to death with a toothpick
than have to listen to that whole song.
I’m actually embarrassed for them.

Y’all know it’s summertime, I think. The sad thing is that it takes three old farts these days to fire up a song for the woo hoo girls at the county fair. We know Luke Bryan isn’t above cutting sing-a-long stripper music, why should Trace be any less the grey-templed pimp leaning on a tractor? It’s not like young guys (other than Randall King) are recording music with any sex drive in it. Nope. In Nashville, it’s estrogen all the way down. You have to go to Texas to get any anger, and Kentucky to get any weird. Austin has been bought and sold, and Memphis is creaking along. California is running around with its hair on fire, screaming about pronouns or some kind of sh*t. It’s only in little pockets of God’s green earth that you can find sane country people listening to music that has any life sanity or joy in it. The mainstream is the gutter, and that’s just the way it is. Trace, Luke, and Pitbull are just throwing it down because everyone else is either depressed or making doilies. Apart from the Moonpies, of course.

Where The Country Music At?
July 7, 2021 @ 1:21 am
At this stage of the game, I really can’t summon up the energy to be outraged at this stuff anymore. It is actually really depressing, because Luke Bryan and Trace Adkins could make some decent mainstream country music if they wanted to. Now, I am not asking for “He Stopped Loving Her Today” on every release. But for the love of all things holy, it’s really cringe-inducing and pathetic to be a guy in your mid forties (Bryan) or even worse, your late fifties(Trace) and putting out garbage like this.
I honestly believe Trace Adkins makes music like this because he gets a rise out of pissing off the purists. It is a really pathetic mind set, in my honest opinion. Bryan has been a lost cause for a long time. And let’s face it, he sings “hitting on college girls at Spring Break” songs because as a former college frat boy, that’s all he knows. But I have had hope from time to time that Trace Adkins could consistently make some decent music. But this song makes me finally realize that is never going to happen. He gets a kick out of pissing off people like us, and I’m really not willing to give him the satisfaction of knowing he sparked my outrage. I won’t hate him, but I certainly have no respect for him.

Trace Adkins will represent older but lusty chaps,Pitbull will draw rap fans and of course,Luke Bryan will attract lots of ladies,so that’s the reason for this collaboration .
July 7, 2021 @ 6:22 am
“Hitting on girls at spring break?” At 59,Trace is close to Social Security age. Is he going to wave to them with his cane ?
July 7, 2021 @ 9:16 am
That isn’t Trace’s forte so much. I was referring to Luke Bryan.
At their age, however, they need to stop worrying about trying to get college age girls and find a woman who can recognize the warning signs of a stroke.
July 8, 2021 @ 1:18 pm
I made it to 1:20, saw that the song is 3:36 min long…1:20 is all I needed to hear. Well, it’s more than I needed to hear really. This song is so boring and lifeless that I can’t even muster the energy to get properly offended. Trace has done some material that I appreciate in the past but these desperate attempts to stay relevant are shameful. Look at Alan Jackson; he continues to make music his way, and because of that he still has his integrity. Mostly I come here to read about artists who are making real country music so I can explore new material, I do however really enjoy reading Trigger’s assessments of these garbage songs.
July 13, 2021 @ 9:15 am
Trace hasn’t had a hit on radio, according to wikipedia, since 2011 with Just Fishing. Then in 2019 he was half asleep at the microphone on the awful Blake Shelton song “Hell Right.” I have no idea if he needs money or something but he needs to read the writing on the wall. His radio career is over. His voice is amazing. I love his older stuff and more deep meaningful songs. He does not need to release trash like this. He even name drops one of his good songs “Chrome” in this dumpster fire. Just no. I defended the Worst country song of all time, it’s humorous and Toby Keith has basically become a Caricature at this point. I cannot find anything redeemable about this song.

The millennial Highwaymen: Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Walker Hayes, and Pitbull.
March 23, 2023 @ 2:08 am
Just added Trace Adkins to my Repeat Play list on Spotify, because if liberals hate him this much, he must be doing something right.
Oh and by the way, he was correct about these worthless “vaccines”, so there’s that.

I’m 71 and had a stroke three years ago, but….Adkins,Pitbull and Bryan likely were attempting one last “Bro-Country” foray before the genre finally expired, though at 62 (59 in 2021),I don’t know how “Bro-y” Trace Adkins can get.Perhaps “Gramps-y!!”
