Turnpike Troubadours Add Second Red Rocks Reunion Show

Well, you knew this was likely in the cards with how quickly the first one sold out.
After officially announcing their reunification on November 29th, the Turnpike Troubadours turned around the next day and announced a reunion show for May 14th, 2022 at the legendary Red Rocks Ampitheater in Colorado with Reckless Kelly and Shovels & Rope opening.
With the pent up demand for Turnpike, and drawing from the entire United States since many of their fans were more than happy to travel to Colorado—let alone an impressive lineup of headliners—the show sold out almost immediately, with secondary market tickets being posted for sometimes upwards of four figures.
You can expect similar demand for a second show that has just been added on Sunday, May 15th, with tickets going on sale this Friday, December 17th. But hopefully this additional supply results in at least some alleviation for excited fans wanting to see the Turnpike Troubadours sooner rather than later. Shovels & Rope and Reckless Kelly will once again open the show.
Though many turned their ire towards ticket seller AXS and scalpers swooping in to purchase tickets to the first announced show, the truth of the matter is tickets were always going to be hard to come by. Though the Turnpike Troubadours weren’t especially known for selling out massive venues before their indefinite hiatus in 2019, when you take the cumulative number of Turnpike Troubadours fans across the country and only 9,500 seats available at Red Rocks, demand was always going to outpace supply.
At the least, this second show will give Turnpike fans a second opportunity to see their favorite band for the first time since the hiatus. But even if they miss out, very likely a more extensive tour will eventually be booked at some point in the future, with many more opportunities for people to see the band, and closer to home.

Good to hear.
Gotta call the following out: “Though the Turnpike Troubadours weren’t especially known for selling out massive venues before their indefinite hiatus in 2019,”
Traveled to see them at Red Rocks on my birthday in 2018…if that place wasn’t sold out, it was damn close. I’ve been a number of shows in my 53 years and have no problem saying if a band wasn’t into the performance. Was my first for TT…they showed up ready to get after it and delivered one hell of a show!

What I’m saying is that the Turnpike Troubadours were not an arena band. Clearly when you take two years off and you have a rabid and loyal fan base, there’s an insatiable appetite that builds up, and when you announce only one show that will not just draw from the local Denver market, but the entirety of the United States, demand is going to outpace supply. This was perhaps a miscalculation by planners initially, and this is also part of the reason tickets went so fast. Yes, bots and scalpers also had a hand in this in some capacity. But I can guarantee there were well over 9,500 Turnpike Troubadours fans who were willing to purchase these tickets, meaning even if there were no scalpers at all, many folks who wanted tickets were not going to get them. That’s just the math of the situation. Glad they added a second show, but I still expect these to sell out immediately. They very well might be an arena band now.

Trigger, I get it. Just wanted to say It was a great show in a great venue. I’ve seen many good bands walk through their shows for one reason or another. Most likely due to being tired of the grind. They were badass that night.
Felker has quietly taken his share of crap over the last few years, even prior to the break. Dude was in a bad place! Aside from the fact that I’m a fan of their music and his writing, I’ve personally watched those that I care for rise up and put their demons aside and become better as a result. Obviously plenty of us standing behind the guy and hoping he can continue to make great music and/or at least live a healthy life!

No one is buying tickets when they’re $500 a piece. Hope the shows are empty thanks to the bots and scalpers.

Red Rock in general is a destination venue filled with tourists. It’s by far the most favorite away venue.

It is Tuesday, why aren’t tickets on sale now?
If i want to run into Macy’s, buy a new pair of Puma’s, or some cute beach sandals, i don’t want someone making a big production of what day i can run into the store.
This is a legit question.
Need someone to explain, why the big build-up.
If this is their idea of foreplay, it is a bad one
December 14, 2021 @ 10:04 am
Is this a serious comment? If so I feel sorry for you for asking such a stupid question.
But as to the article and second show, this time around will be no different. They’ll all be sold out right when they go on sale and put back up for sale for outrageous prices. I’ve often wondered if these major ticket outlets like this one and Ticketmaster don’t buy them up themselves and then charge up and pocket all the money for themselves. Either way it’s bull and something needs to change
December 14, 2021 @ 10:07 am
Maybe i’m just really stupid.
Seriously, am asking a very legit question.
Why are ticket sales not up & available currently?
December 14, 2021 @ 10:26 am
Because they go on sale Friday…
December 14, 2021 @ 10:35 am
Thanks, Einstein

Wow it’s like elementary school again. What kind of answer were you looking for? That’s why you can’t buy them today. They go on sale Friday and today is Tuesday. Why can’t I be off work today for Christmas? Because Christmas is the 25th.
December 14, 2021 @ 12:16 pm
Hahahaha! Thanks for that.

I think Di asked a great question for the reasons I laid out below.
December 15, 2021 @ 7:26 pm
Like that time Metallica apparently didi it. With so much money involved it makes you wonder. https://www.forbes.com/sites/quentinsinger/2019/07/20/live-nation-and-metallica-rep-conspired-ticket-scalping-scheme-for-metallica-concertgoers/

That would be the best way to combat scalpers and the secondary market. Just drop them. Let the artists’ social media spread the word. Don’t let the scalpers collect and organize the funds necessary to buy out the venue. Why not? This is actually an excellent question Di!
We sell everything else instantly. With social media, why build a demand and give time for the scalpers to organize?
I applauded you for your critical thinking!
December 14, 2021 @ 5:46 pm
“Don’t let the scalpers collect and organize the funds necessary to buy out the venue.”
My point exactly.
Thank you!, Hoptown.
A little unasked for advice to the Turnpike Troubadours.
Every damn one of you.
Next time you pull a stunt like throwing a picture out there, with the cutesy little “see you soon!” message, you need to back it up.
You ALL made a Big mistake on that little ruse.
I know some of your Dad’s had balls. Maybe you need to ask your Father’s how a real man uses them
December 15, 2021 @ 3:09 am
If your point was to say that bands should sell tickets on their own through their websites and social media then I agree 100%. I think it would cut down on the scalpers quite a bit.
December 15, 2021 @ 7:09 am
“We sell everything else instantly. With social media, why build a demand and give time for the scalpers to organize?”
Rusty,
my entire point is from Hoptown’s question above.
Really did want to hear from you guys who have a lot more experience in ticket purchasing, than i.
December 14, 2021 @ 10:31 am
Good news. But maybe not for those triggered by the last batch of ticket prices. Hopefully they’ll survive a second meltdown.
December 14, 2021 @ 11:24 am
I am certain that TT don’t care about my family commitments, but I’d be all over this if my daughter wasn’t graduating that weekend. When I first saw this, I told my wife we were flying to Denver until she checked the calendar.
They’ll roll around to Georgia soon enough and I will get to see them again.
December 14, 2021 @ 2:25 pm
Does anyone know if this one will require a passcode like the last one did?
December 16, 2021 @ 7:20 am
Presale is at 10am MT today and password is REDROCKS
December 14, 2021 @ 4:31 pm
God I hope we get album news sometime soon
December 14, 2021 @ 5:17 pm
Third party will buy them up and mark them up 500% again. These Venues lost money since they listened to daddy government and shutdown. Now they want their money they lost so they’re working hand in hand with ticket vendors and screwing you over. The end. I like turnpike and reckless but not 500 to 3000 bucks like them. They’re a 50 dollar max ticket band to see.
December 14, 2021 @ 9:11 pm
The TT fan boys who get hard just at the thought of this band will pay thousands, but I’m with you, Zeke, only I’d peg them at a $25-$30 band. Once the hype dies down and they go back to playing regular venues and fairs, that’s what the tickets will likely be selling for.
December 14, 2021 @ 9:38 pm
Does anyone have a presale code for the 16th? I really hope I can score this show after waiting hours for the last one
December 15, 2021 @ 3:16 pm
REDROCKS
December 15, 2021 @ 7:59 pm
Is the presale code GOODLORD or REDROCKS?
December 15, 2021 @ 12:49 am
My hope is they do a show at Calf Fry this year. It’s a 3 day red dirt concert outside of Stillwater Oklahoma . I bought tickets in hope they will be there. If not I had a great time last year but I am really hoping to have the opportunity to see them.

People love to shout to the edges of the galaxy how capitalism is the greatest thing in the world, until capitalism prevents them from attending a concert or a sporting event. You can’t have it both ways.

^ to those saying they wouldn’t pay $XXX for TT at Redrocks with Reckless Kelly … that’s how it works. Basically, the people who want to pay the most will go and there 9,500 seats (benches?). The question about who profits is just about the balance between the venue (the initial ticket price), the ticket broker (ticketmaster + stubhub), or the scalpers (the delta from ticket price to scalper price). Anyone who got lucky and bought a ticket for less than the scalping price is PASSING on re-selling their ticket for the scalping price (so they ARE using a ticket that’s worth $XXX, even if they didn’t pay that price). If venues wanted to make ticket more available to fans, they’d charge more for the initial tickets–> which makes scalping less profitable and slows the initial ticket says. If the TT tickets had been $250 face-value, the scalpers would have to put a lot more money down to get the tickets.
