Tyler Childers Announces First Major Tour in 3 Years

Not since Tyler Childers joined up with Sturgill Simpson for an arena tour that was summarily canceled due to the pandemic have we seen a slew of tour dates from the Kentucky songwriter. In fact, it’s been curiously quiet on that front while Tyler Childers remains one of the most popular country artists from the independent realm. For the last two years, it’s only been select appearances at festivals and fundraisers. But that all is about to change after Tyler Childers announced the “Send In The Hounds Tour” on Thursday (11-10).
Consisting of 30 total dates, including a couple in the UK and some previously-announced festival appearances, it gives Tyler Childers fans the greatest set opportunities to see him in the last three years. Though there are some big venues and amphitheaters on this tour, these are not arenas, and some are relatively intimate. So you can be assured that most all of these dates will sell out almost immediately.
A diverse group of openers on the tour include Sturgill Simpson drummer and Town Mountain member Miles Miller, Charley Crockett, John R. Miller, Wayne Graham, Elle King, Margo Price, Marcus King, and S.G. Goodman, whose song “Space and Time” is a Tyler Childers favorite.
Tyler’s album Purgatory remains a wildly popular title in country music, perennially stationed in the Top 20, despite being over six years old now. His latest album Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven has already dropped to #38 this week despite being a triple album release, but demand for Tyler Childers live is likely to remain high, and folks should be on top of the pre-sale that starts on November 16th, and the general sale that starts November 18th at 9:00 am local time.

Starlight Theatre in KC would be a really nice place to see him. I saw Roy Clark there in my youth. But I don’t live there anymore.
I don’t think I could manage Merriweather Post Pavillion physically so I’m glad I got to see him a couple of times. Arenas are for the young.

There are a lot of gaps to be filled on his touring agenda. A lot of those dates in August are weekdays which makes me believe he’ll be on the Outlaw Tour this summer, plus Healing Appalachia, and Del Fest (for all us Appalachian people left off this poster).

I hope your right. Was surprised there were no dates for our area. Cleveland’s doable but not my favorite place to go.

Masonic Temple in Detroit is super nice. Plus we love hosting you fellers up here. Payback on those speeding tickets you like to give us with blue license plates.

I’ve seen Tyler 2x in Detroit (2018 Majestic, 2019 Fillmore). My husband is from New Lothrop, MI (1/2 an hour north, west of Flint) and we timed those concerts with going back to see his family (they run beef farm). We won’t make it up there in June because we have a lawn maintenance company and June is very busy time for us.
The only concert I’ve ever attended at the Masonic Temple was Modest Mouse in 2006 or 2007.

All of these excellent tours that come nowhere near the Pacific Northwest.
Good to see Childers back in the road though. Everyone who goes to see him, enjoy!

Tyler, come see us in Shreveport at Municipal Auditorium. Everyone from Elvis and Hank to Jack White likes it.
November 10, 2022 @ 10:25 pm
I missed the chance to see him and Sturgill Simpson by a couple of weeks when they had to cancel their tour due to Covid. Excited to finally see him and Zach Bryan at the Two Step Inn festival!

Radio city both nights, let’s go!!!!!
Trying to make it to Red Rocks…

Any body know where I can hear more Miles Miller? The one song I found was on Spotify and it’s not my cup of tea. A lot of people saying he’s got some good stuff. I’m trying to be positive but if I’m honest this last album, the fact I was supposed to see him w Sturgill a couple years ago…
November 11, 2022 @ 8:08 am
There are rumors he’s recorded an album and will be releasing it. I don’t think anything has been finalized as of yet, but my guess is we’ll be hearing something before he plays these dates.
November 14, 2022 @ 8:32 am
Never thought I’d get the chance to see TC and Charley Crockett on the same bill! Hoping these tickets don’t get bought out by resellers too quickly.
November 14, 2022 @ 1:24 pm
No stops in FL/GA…
November 16, 2022 @ 10:19 am
Tried getting tickets this morning to Santa Barbara. Waited in the virtual line for about an hour and still didn’t get them. Resellers already have them up for about $300 a piece. Fuck AXS. I’ll never order tickets from them again.
November 16, 2022 @ 4:23 pm
Yikes. Hearing about those tix prices that the scamming ticketing service is asking for “resale.” $500? If you pay those prices you are part of the problem.
November 17, 2022 @ 8:51 am
Well, Ticketmaster and these ticket sites just seem to be a scam. Have no idea what is going on with this, but we’ve been trying to play the game with pre-sales and everything else. This show may not be affordable in any way. I am so sick of greed. Funny, it is suppose to be presale but all the re-sale sites seem to have plenty of tix.
November 17, 2022 @ 9:03 am
I was part of the presale and jumped in an hour or so after they went on sale and could find nothing for Merriwether Post or Wilmington, NC.
Something has to be done or live music will go away at this level. As JF said above, if you are paying the reseller prices, you are part of the problem.
But I have little hope – if Pearl Jam couldn’t do it at the height of their popularity, no one else will even try.
