Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Fest Announces 2019 Lineup & Dates
Once again Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Fest sponsored by Blackbird Presents will be rolling down the road, and they have just released the 10 separate lineups, dates, and locations for the 2019 season. Originally started as a one-off event in 2016, for the last two years the Outlaw Music Festival has been a touring affair, with a round robin cast of performers playing certain events around the country, all with Willie Nelson as the headliner. This year arguably goes even further from what the term “Outlaw” means to many country music fans with some of the bands selected to play, but the lineups are impressive nonetheless.
No offense to Counting Crowes, Dawes, or Phil Lesh and Friends, but this is not exactly what makes people think “Outlaw,” though perhaps Steve Earle and the Dukes, Colter Wall, and maybe Hayes Carll will. Blackbird Presents always seems to engage in pretty strange curation, including for its multiple tribute shows for legends. Sturgill Simpson, who participated in Outlaw Fest the last couple of years but is not on the lineup in 2019, saw the irony of the whole “Outlaw” thing and had T-shirts printed up with a unicorn jumping over a rainbow and the slogan, “So Fucking Outlaw” in 2018.
Regardless of what you call it, the Outlaw Music Fest will give fans in multiple markets a chance to see a cool package show at an amphitheater, and it’s a better use of time and money that trying to see all of the bands individually. “The fans told us what they wanted on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour in 2019, and I am thrilled to have delivered this to them,” says Keith Wortman, CEO of Blackbird Presents. “This summer’s lineup with Willie Nelson and our caravan of artists continues to take the Outlaw Music Festival experience to a whole new level.”
Last year the Outlaw Fest sold more than 200,000 tickets over its various stops. This year the festival includes a Canadian date with the multiple stops in the Northeast and Upper Midwest of the United States. It also includes a stop in Dallas, TX on July 3rd, likely leading up to Willie Nelson’s annual 4th of July Picnic that you can expect to see a lineup for in the coming weeks. “We had so much fun on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour last year that we couldn’t wait to get back out on the road with everyone,” says Willie Nelson.

Old Crow Mediince Show just released a bunch of non festival tour dates too. So my theory they just told that British guy to brexit holds true.

With a lineup like that, there is only one choice in my opinion who can fill the open opener spots. It would just be mean and bitchy otherwise, and I’ll never buy another ticket to Outlaw Fest ever again. It would be more fake news to me.

Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t make it fake news.

So, let me get this straight Land Ho. You say there is only one choice, who can in your opinion, fill the open opener spots. Wtf is an open opener spots?!?
Then you leave no word on just who it is that you think should fill this new named open opener spot
. Then you ramble on incoherently and say you will never buy another ticket for Outlaw Fest again. Closing with the Trumpesque worn out fake news statement. I would like to say that I have never been more confused about what the hell someone is trying to say.
All bands do not play all shows. They have their own tours underway at the same time. That’s why it is depending on which city or town they play, the lineup may vary some. This keeps the tour fresh and new with the addition/subtraction of some of the bands.
I will be purchasing the maximum allowed when the Outlaw Music Festival comes to St. Louis on June 29!
God Bless Willie Nelson! Willie for President 2020! The man, the musician, the songwriter, the humanitarian, and the man who bears no prejudice for no one!

@ Land Ho. There is no fake news here. You have drank the koolaid a little to long. Turn off the Fox news and say goodnight. My guess is it’s a good thing you are not attending any of the shows!

Do you seriously expect Willie (and a couple of the others) to make all those dates?

Right. Not one show in the northwest.

I considered buying tickets dove there coming near me. But not impressed with lineup. Will probably see the Chris Stapleton, and later the Brad Paisley concert instead.

Yea, the lineup leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Some obviously good names, but nothing that makes me wanna drive a couple hours and spend a couple hundred bucks, especially because i was just at Farm Aid last summer.

True. I’ll happen to be in St. Louis with my family on that date so I’m going, but I wouldn’t travel for this lineup.

I’d be pretty happy to see three of the top 4 in Pittsburgh. Er, I mean, Burgettstown. Might have to look into it.

I saw the tour in Cincinnati last year and LOVED it. But i feel like Ohio gets the smallest line up. We had Whiskey Daredevils, Head And The Heart, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sturgill SImpson, and Willie last year. I’d go this year, but I want to see Steve Earle and Lukas Nelson get added to the lineup. Trust me, i get it. Other commitments and such. But come one. Try a little.

I don’t know why everyone is so grumpy. The lawn seats for the Chicago show are $35 after fees. Even if the only people playing were Willie, Allison Krauss, and OCM, I’d be thrilled. Personally, I have a lot of friends who love the Avett Brothers, so that will be a good draw to get a group together. Is it Outlaw? Maybe not, but it will be a good show nonetheless.

Outlaw Fest should include the newer group of outlaws and true country artists along with Willie. Specifically artists like
Nikki Lane
Whitey Morgan
Cody Jinks
Turnpike Troubadours
Alex Williams
Tyler Childers

We’re going but I’m really glad I saw the tour with Sturgill last year. He really carried the Little Rock show. It’s always a good time though.
