Caitlin Cannon Reveals A Lot in New Song/Video “Love Addict”

Caitlin Cannon is known for being a powerhouse, critically-acclaimed songwriter who won the Songwriter Serenade in 2023 for her composition “Waiting,” and who Saving Country Music recently profiled through her pretty incredible songwriting class for prison inmates. But ahead of her upcoming album Love Addict (out May 9th), she’s revealing … well, let’s just say, a different side of herself. And lots of it.
Caitlin Cannon has officially released the title track to the new album, but “Love Addict” has already been making quite the stir as Cannon performs it live, including singing it a cappella to a very positive reception when she appeared on the massive live comedy podcast Kill Tony. The song shows of Cannon’s clever and inventive side of songwriting to go with her more heartfelt and vulnerable material.
Some of Nashville’s top notables came together to appear in the very risque “Love Addict” video. This includes none other than country legend Pam Tillis, Logan Ledger posing as a UPS guy, Oliver Bates Craven of Sierra Ferrell’s band as the love interest, and renown producer and musician Misa Arriaga, who also happened to produce Caitlin’s Love Addict album.

The studio band who helped record Love Addict also appear in the video directed by Jesse Weeden, including Eddy Dunlap of the Grand Ole Opry House Band and Time Jumpers fame, Adam Meisterhans who’s played with just about everyone in east Nashville, and solo artist Kree Harrison who sand backing vocals.
It’s the fearlessness that Caitlin Cannon brings to her songs that has made her so unique and compelling in both the songwriting and country music space. It’s that same fearlessness that earned her last album, 2020’s The TrashCannon Album an improbable 9.5 score here at Saving Country Music.
Caitlin reveals a lot in the video for “Love Addict,” but more will be revealed on May 9th when the entire album arrives. Love Addict is now available for pre-save/preorder.

Looking forward to this album. Was great meeting her at Americanafest last year.

I’ll hold my opinion on Cannon until the album release, but as I’m reading this article about a up and coming “Country” artist who has the help of some big names in the country/americana genres helping out, the song itself was a bit unexpected when I clicked on the video link. While Cannon has a nice singing voice, and the song is kinda catchy, I didn’t hear anything remotely “Country” in the song that I was expecting. Sounds more Pop Rock to me.
A quick scan of some of her previous single releases reveal a more country sound, so we’ll see if the rest of the album reveals the future country music artist described I guess.

Her upcoming album has plenty of country on it. This is just the debut single.
