Comedian Tom Segura Clowns on Garth Brooks in New Series

If you’ve ever interfaced with almost anything involving Garth Brooks on the internet over the last few years, you’ve probably noticed all of the “Where are all the bodies Garth?” comments and other weird trolling, no matter the context.

The origination point for the, “Where are the bodies Garth?” trolling is comedian Tom Segura, and his wife and fellow comedian Christina P. The two have a podcast together called Your Mom’s House. Garth Brooks—and what they perceive as his fake persona—have been a favorite topic of theirs for years, going back at least to 2018. In fact, the duo has found such traction with the topic, it’s been one of the prevailing themes of the podcast.

In 2018, as Garth Brooks was previewing his big stadium tour, the duo mercilessly lit into Garth for his transparent everyman shtick, and for being super awkward on social media as an artist that came up without it, and transitioned into it later in life. But it was on their November 28th, 2018 episode of Your Mom’s House (#476) with Fahim Anwar that Tom Segura first alluded that he (jokingly) thought that maybe Garth Books was a serial killer.

At this point, the whole “Where are the bodies Garth?” comments have been used for so long, they’ve grown pretty stale. But Tom Segura is about to see how much more life his Garth Brooks trolling has left as he’s set to portray a very Garth-like character in an upcoming Netflix series called Bad Thoughts. The multi-episode sketch comedy series is set to debut on May 13th.

In each of the six episodes, Tom Segura is said to portray a dark character in “unthinkable situations and fantasies.” One such character is a “global country music superstar” who kidnaps his own fans, and forces them into depressing situations to help inspire him to write new hit songs. If Segura’s duds and beard aren’t a dead giveaway of who he’s aping, his long storied history razzing on Garth Brooks does.

In the trailer, Segura even says, “Ooh, I like that,” which is one of the things the comedian loves to hoot on Garth for.

The one-sided Tom Segura/Garth Brooks feud has been raging for years, referenced many times, and if anything, has worn out its welcome at this point. For Garth’s part, he generally ignores it, whether from being impervious, or simply unable to laugh at himself. But this will be the first time Tom Segura takes the joke to a cinematic medium, and a literal interpretation.

This could be fun.
