Lineup for Willie Nelson’s 2023 Luck Reunion Revealed

UPDATE: This event has been postponed to Friday, March 17th due to weather.
South By Southwest (SXSW) every March in Austin, TX is a veritable madhouse as one of the biggest music gatherings in the entire world. Thousands of artists participate in events in hundreds of locales around the city in a dizzying swarm of options. Over the last eleven years, one of the major events worth seeking out as a refuge from the madness is Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion held at his ranch just west of town … if you’re lucky enough to be able to get in.
Held on the Thursday of SXSW every year (which puts it on March 16th in 2023), it’s definitely the place to see both country legends and up-and-comers, as well as everything in between, with an extra emphasis on the diversity of roots music. In recent years the lineup has continued to veer a bit away from country, but 2023 still offers a mouth-watering lineup of artists who are very much worthy of seeing.
There are few artists more worth seeing live at the moment than Sierra Ferrell and Shane Smith & the Saints. Both makes the 2023 Luck lineup. Then you have Austin’s Rattlesnake Milk, which except for Saving Country Music, nobody else seems to be paying attention to. But the Luck Reunion is. You also have up-and-comers Drayton Farley, and Aaron Vance playing as part of the Black Opry Revue. Aaron is another who has gone mostly ignored by country music, but was featured here on SCM as far back as 2016.
Few can sing as good as Katie Pruitt, and Jaime Wyatt is always great to see live. But what might be most interesting about the lineup is the legends who will also appear, including the elusive Willis Alan Ramsey, Terry Allen with his Panhandle Mystery Band, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and a tribute to Doug Sahm with his son Shawn and the Texas Tornadoes.
The 2023 Luck Reunion is part of an entire week of events in 2023, including a potluck event on Wednesday, March 15th, and a tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe on March 19th. If you can’t get into the Luck Reunion, these may also be options to come and see Willie’s Luck, TX that was built for the filming of the movie Red Headed Stranger.
To get tickets to the Luck Reunion, you have to either be lucky, or sign up through the “Lucky Draw” lottery system. Since the site is only so big, capacity is limited. For more information, CLICK HERE.

This is outside of the scope of the site, but I am happy to see Guster listed here. They are one of my favorite bands and deserve all the attention they get.

Yay Guster. Seen them so many times.

Spoon?? Far out.

Tami Neilson is listed on the flyer but not on your list. She is hotchacha and has played this before (i know you know)
February 22, 2023 @ 9:30 pm
My guess is Tami Neilson was supposed to be on the lineup, but I just heard today that she’s been having some serious health issues, was in the hospital for over a month, and is apparently back home now but still recovering. So my guess is she’s not planning to make the trip from New Zealand.
I was there last year at Luck when she debuted “Beyond The Stars” WITH Willie Nelson himself on the Luck Reunion stage. It was certainly a big moment in Luck history.

Who are these people? never heard of any of them but Willie Nelson & I love him!

The point of SXSW and events like the Luck Reunion is to showcase up-and-coming talent. There are some bigger names and more legendary names on this event as well like Terry Allen and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. But mostly it is about showcasing the future of country and roots music.

Damn cool seeing Spoon on here! If you guys want to take a break from good country and check out some good indie rock – Spoon is your band.
February 24, 2023 @ 12:45 pm
Been a Spoon fan since high school back around 2000. Seen them many times and been to luck many times, but never thought those paths would cross. Very psyched!!

Is anyone paying attention to Bella white? Glad to see her part of this.
February 24, 2023 @ 12:43 pm
Ya I love her album and all the singles she’s put out since. Saw her open for Sierra in Houston, and looking forward to seeing her here again
February 28, 2023 @ 2:36 pm
Bella is awesome, but I hope she’s playing in one of the smaller stages at Luck as she’s got a simple, small Bluegrass-ish band
