Stage Crashers at Zach Bryan & Jason Aldean Shows Stir Concern

In a somewhat strange coincidence, two of country music’s biggest stars both saw fans rush the stage at their shows on Thursday (7-25) evening. The two situations couldn’t have been handled more differently.

Audio Interview-Roger Alan Wade

When I saw Roger Alan Wade a few weeks back at the musINK Festival in Dallas, afterward we headed over to a burger joint to talk about his cousin Johnny Knoxville, Outlaw music, Roger getting clean and sober among other things. The 9513 published a transcript of parts of that conversation that you can read […]

Nashville Flooding Because God Hates Kid Rock

It’s true. When wacko Pat Robertson proclaimed that Katrina happened because of all the sin in New Orleans and Haiti got hit by an earthquake because they made a pact with the devil, I thought he was high on more than just Christ Love. But apparently it’s true, and apparently God not only hates sin, […]

Album Review -Hank III’s The Rebel Within

I’m going to have a lot to say about this record, but the upshot is that its damn good. It is an improvement from Hank III’s last offering Damn Right, Rebel Proud. It may not be his best album, or the album of the year, but considering all the different factors Hank had to juggle […]

Lucky Out West/ Hank III in NYC/ Hancock Sans Huck

Just a few quick things: Yesterday it was announced that Huck Johnson, long time standup bass player for Wayne “The Train” Hancock will be leaving the band. Hancock’s grueling tour schedule has caused him a lot of turnover over the years, so the announcement is not alarming. As they say, “The Train Rolls On.” Anybody […]

Separating Music City From Music Row

Nashville was lucky. During the early 20th Century, many cities could have ended up with the “Music City” moniker. Tulsa had a bustling music scene, with Bob Wills playing weekly at Cain’s ballroom. Bakersfield, CA had the best recording studios west of the Mississippi and was a magnet for the Southern talent that had migrated […]

As part of the Tribeca Film Festival, the long awaited film about the White family of West Virginia called The Wild & Wonderful Whites has been made available through some pay-per-view and on-demand services (check your provider), and through Amazon.com. Just about a year ago this week, this film created high controversy when the trailer […]

Rachel Brooke Hits The Road

Rachel Brooke isn’t just a musician, she’s a muse. If she was an illustration, it would be an old one, from the 1920’s with tattered edges. Rachel would be sitting on a high cliff overlooking the sea like a Greek Siren, and ships full of suitors would be trying unsuccessfully to approach her position. The […]

Rosie Flores, The Rockabilly Filly, had a great fall recently and broke a wing (frown). Which means she’s not going to be able to go on an upcoming scheduled tour and make money (double frown). And she may have to have surgery and the med bills are rising (triple frown). And she has no insurance […]
