Silverada Plans Unique Shows to Close Out 2024
It’s not too late to take in one of the best bands in all of live music before the clock strikes midnight on 2024. Silverada will be playing a series of shows in and around their home state of Texas for the final portions of November and December, including stops in Houston, Uvalde, San Antonio, and Dallas.
Beyond their stellar regular performances, Silverada is also slated to play some unique shows on their calendar to close out 2024 that are worth trying to catch. This includes a show they have planned on November 16th at the Haute Spot in Cedar Park, TX, where they will be playing a set that will consist exclusively of cover songs from George Strait and Clint Black.
Then on December 21st, for the second year in a row they’ll be holding court at the legendary Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa with the recently Cancer-free Joshua Ray Walker, and the wild and crazy Vandoliers also on the bill. This is about one of the best one-off concert lineups possible, and anyone within any reasonable distance shouldn’t pass up the opportunity.
And if you’re looking to ring in the New Year with the best band on the planet, there will be no better place to do so than Sagebrush in South Austin where Silverada will take the stage with Aaron McDonnell and the Neon Angels opening.
All dates on sale now.

While we’re on the subject of Silverada, if anyone’s interested, there was a benefit album called Better than Jail that was released on several streaming platforms a few weeks ago (but oddly enough is not available for purchase). It has a bunch of covers of classic songs about jail from some great artists & bands, among others Steve Earle (”I Fought the Law”), Raul Malo of the Mavericks (”I Got Stripes”), and Hayes Carll & Allison Moorer (”Sing Me Back Home”). Silverada’s contribution was a pretty killer cover of an old Merle Haggard album cut called ”I Made the Prison Band.”

I don’t know who they are, probably because they are not on TV. But I am struck by the aesthetics of the singer of the photo, it looks like a heavy metal band.

Guessing you’re probably looking at the bass player, Omar Oyoque (the guy with long curly black hair). Yes, he’s a heavy metal enthusiast and influenced by Steve Harris, the bass player of Iron Maiden. He’s a great dude, great bass player, and great performer.

He’s also a good steel guitar player believe it or not.

I believe it – saw him play steel live at least once. I wanna add that I really like the fact that Zach seems to be taking on additional vocal duties lately, and I know Catlin’s done vocals on live covers before. I think this band could really benefit from additional variety when it comes to the vocals going forward and I hope that becomes more a part of their creative/recording process. Anyway, everybody in this band is so talented. Love ’em.

He covered Cobb’s vocal part on “Something I’m Working On” the last time I saw them, and did a pretty flawless job.

Their latest album is probably my favorite of the year. I hope they make their way east at some point.

Is there some law that they are not able to go east of the MS river?

Trigger, I’d be interested to hear if, almost a year on, you consider the name change to have been successful in helping them “go to that next level” and “expand, make it bigger” as they said in the Rolling Stone interview. It’s very difficult for me to judge from the UK.

That’s a little hard to asses at this point. They certainly didn’t blow up huge or anything, but we’ll see what the next year has in store. I don’t think it’s hurt them, at least not from the crowds I’ve seen at their shows this year.
