morgan-wallen-keith-whitley

When you thought Morgan Wallen couldn’t outdo himself any more in insulting huge swaths of the American population after moronically shouting the ‘N’ word into the cold Nashville night, he comes in heavy.

Alan Jackson Recalls Waylon Jennings Asking, ‘What’s a Chattahoochee?’

alan-jackson-waylon-jennings

Though he most always towed the line even in his heyday, and held to a promise he made to his mentor George Jones to always “keep it country,” Jackson had his dalliances on the commercial side of country as well, namely on one of his biggest hits, 1993’s “Chattahoochee.”

How Cute, The CMTs Think They’re A Real Awards Show

cmt-awards

Look I get it. Worrying over country music awards shows is similar to worrying over country radio. It’s not that they don’t have an effect on the music at all. It’s just that as every year passes, they go on to serve a smaller and smaller niche of the country music market.

Charley Crockett Announces New Album “Music City USA”

charley-crockett

Charley Crockett might be a worthy candidate for the most interesting man in country music. Not only is the dude wildly talented and entertaining, while he tours constantly and finds the time to make cinematic quality videos, he also keeps up a hare’s pace in the studio.

Mike & the Moonpies Drop a Ton of Headliner Tour Dates (+Europe!)

mike-and-the-moonpies

It would be a dereliction of your country music duty if Mike and the Moonpies rolled through your town, and you were just sitting on your couch surfing through Law & Order reruns instead of getting beers spilled on you and not giving a $hit because your face was being rocked off

After Sexual Assault Claims, Why is Nelly Still Accepted in Country?

nelly

Quick question for you. How many women need to accuse Nelly of rape and sexual assault before he becomes a persona no grata in country and roots music similar to Ryan Adams, Morgan Wallen, Winston Marshall of Mumford & Sons, and the like? Your answer must be greater than three.

Album Review – Storey Boys – “Patterns”

the-storey-boys

“Patterns” is a patently traditional country record that immediately impresses with the first few songs that rear back and try to knock the wind out of you with an emotional wallop, and then shows off its depth of knowledge and acumen with a quality run through some country classics.

Album Review – Riley Green’s “Behind The Bar”

riley-green

Starting with his hit “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” Riley Green has delivered one song after another that labors and often achieves to touch something deeper in the listener than just their vapid, passive-listening pleasure zone placed in the bullseye of the likes of 101.1 FM.

This New Mike and the Moonpies Album Should Be Big

mike-and-the-moonpies-1

The chemistry of this band is just so perfect, not just unto itself, but for this very time and place. They’re classic, but cool. That’s the reason they aren’t about to compromise anything they do just for a quick step up the ladder.
