Oh thank God. The CMT Awards are no longer, at least for now, and likely forever. And it couldn’t have come sooner, or to a more deserving presentation. It was country music’s ugly stepchild of an awards show.

On Thursday (5-24), Dwight Yoakam unveiled “Then Here Came Monday” and “Pretty Horses” sort of 45 rpm flip side style via YouTube, and both will be available for streaming and purchase come Friday, May 25th.

A new single “Must Be The Whiskey” will also be released. Part of Concord, Rounder is a massive label, yet still with an independent streak.
