Turnpike Troubadours Tease New Album “The Price of Admission”

This story has been updated.

All indications are that the Turnpike Troubadours will be releasing a new album on April 11th called The Price of Admission. This is according to a billboard outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma that was recently populated with an ad saying as much. Though we don’t have any further details on the album, Saving Country Music has been able to confirm that the Billboard and the news is indeed authentic, meaning it’s no mirage or belated April Fool’s joke.

As we’ve seen over the years, Turnpike Troubadours secrets tend to be some of the worst kept in the music industry. From leaked tracks on TouchTunes, to half cocked preemptive reveals on their own website, the big surprise gets spoiled as Rolling Stone and their planned “exclusive” reveals get scuttled. In fact, some folks were able to find a new song called “Be Here” via TouchTunes again Friday night (4-5).

Perhaps this revelation was more planned, or maybe not. But both Turnpike frontman Evan Felker’s wife Staci Felker, and ‘Hammerin’ Hank Early have shared images of the Billboard via Instagram, so there is no attempt to hide or refute it. Bassist RC “Rooster” Edwards said, “Damn TouchTunes at it again with the early release.” Meanwhile, the band’s official website says something is “coming soon.” (Spoiler alert: it’s info on the new album).

Whether this most recent revelation was a carefully-placed Easter egg to get us all buzzing like we are or another timing mishap, it appears we’re getting a new Turnpike Troubadours album sooner than later.

April 11th will be the second day the band performs at the massive Boys of Oklahoma extravaganza set to transpire in Stillwater April 10th to 13th, with the centerpiece being the official reunification of Cross Canadian Ragweed at at T Boone Pickens Stadium. The Turnpike Troubadours are also performing on all days along with The Great Divide, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Stoney LaRue, and The Mike McClure Band on a couple of days.

More info on the new Turnpike Troubadours album soon.
